Mars, or Alexander Khilko to friends and family, is to music what celebrity chefs are to cooking. Blending up the finest ingredients in his audiological kitchen (or ‘studio’ to those of you with limited imaginations), this young producer has crafted some of the tastiest breaks cuts to emerge from his native Russia in many years. Since turning from a home based producer to a full on professional sonic soldier little over three years ago, Mars has shot to fame with a succession of bassbin busting breakbeat tracks, including the humungous dancefloor anthem ‘Communist Funky Beat’ released on his own XSSR imprint.
Not content to keep his skills confined to the recording studio, Mars has been a permanent resident DJ on NSB Radio (voted the UK’s premiere breaks radio station, breakspoll 2008) and NuBreaks Radio (USA), as well as recent guest appearances on BBC Radio 1 (Annie Nightingale) and Kiss 100 FM (Jay Cunning). With his production on lockdown, Mars is putting everything into XSSR Music with some massive tracks and remixes lined up from himself and a selection of the finest artists around, including 4Kuba, Rektchordz, Mesmer, JHz and Kid Digital to name but a few.
