  • Bio

Martin performs live as a soloist using laptop and woodwind. He is a also a member of various improvising and composed music groups including duos with poet Geraldine Monk and vocalist Julie Tippetts. His long running electronics duo with Chris Bywater, Transient v Resident, expands into the freaked out big band Orchestra of the Upper Atmosphere with the addition of drummer Steve Dinsdale plus horn section plus choir. At the other end of the sonic spectrum is the reduced activity improv quintet Coastguard All Stars. He collaborates regularly with USA based zeuhl/prog/sludge band Combat Astronomy, and with the highly respected UK electronica group Radio Massacre International. Occasional duos with violinist / thereminist Beatrix Ward-Fernandez and saxophonist / sound designer Herve Perez (as Inclusion Principle) also surface from time to time. In a more jazz centred sound world, he works with the AACM influenced Hornweb Sax Quartet. He runs the Discus record label, and details of all his CDs and music activities can be found at www.discus-music.co.uk.
