Walking, mountainbike/roadbike, running, photography, reading, cinema, live music, eating in/out and politics to a certain extent.
Music
Bluetones, New Order, Smiths, Joy Division, Nirvana, The Cure, Jesus and the Mary Chain, Placebo, Depeche Mode, Pixies, Faithless, Deacon Blue, Beautiful South. Most things actually, apart from Jazz, Kate Melua (if there are 9 million bicycles in Beijing, surely the next time she is touring over there. No bell/predestrian crossing and your history of human rights...bit of an incident with your Raliegh Chopper)and Pan Pipes...
Movies
Things to do in Denver when your dead, Station Agent,The Edukators, Intacto, Kill Bill, Gardenstate, Some kind of wonderful, Fourth Protocol, Thomas Crown Affair. Still reckon Brosnan was a great Bond. If you are OK with subtitles -struggle to better Almodovar. Very off-beat humour, - Talk to her, is a classic.
Television
Grand Designs/Sarah Beeney. Judge John Deed, Come Dine With Me - it is classic. Channel 4 docs/drama's at 9/10 pm type stuff. Jonathan Ross, Jimmy Carr and Mock the week.
Books
Sebastian Faulks (Birdsong in particular), any Tony Parsons, Stephen King, John Le Carre, Frederick Forsythe. Fiona Walker...for my sins. Richard Askwith's book about fell-running - is very good.
Heroes
Possibly a word banded around too flippantly nowadays, but the following ones are my personal "heroes" in their own relevent fields... Jens Voigt (cyclist), Goran Kropp (climber, he cycled from Sweden to Nepal. Climbed Everest without oxygen/sherpa support and cycled home. He was also a very funny, nice bloke.) Kurt Cobain, Ayrton Senna. You may have noticed a theme running through those? Geniuses, flawed diamonds - and dead. Sebastian Loeb - very much alive and kicking. Tony Benn (possibly one of the greatest minds of the past century, if only all politicians had is intellect/integrity?!) Finally, Jane Tomlinson - remarkable lady who will be sadly missed.
About me: First of all. Please do not think I am some kind of Luddite because of the white background. I have had this novel idea, a black font on a white background seems to be quite legible...Who knows, it might catch on!?!?
3 glasses of red, and I am feeling like a bit of a maverick here...so here is the new and updated version. Often perceived as a bolshy northerner, but in reality I am a little puppy! Do suffer from a lack of tolerance, I will admit. Hey, life is far too short and precious to put up with excessive muppetry. Although...that does not mean I am not prone to it myself. This, we will blame on (1) low blood sugar levels (2) lack of sleep...no debating here.
Don't read too much into the self effacing humour, I do not need to burn Lavender scents to boost my self confidence levels (the woman in the gift shop at Robin's Hood Bay - she was actually ignoring business to give me counsel! lol) but prefer this style, instead of the blowing smoke up my own a##e variety! I will leave judgement up to the other party, although I reserve the right, to beg to differ.
I can waffle for Britain, some of it off at complete tangents. Don't ever deal with me with anything remotely important, by text. Some people will be able to confirm, to interpret my texts...you need to have a abstract mind at times. That does not mean I use predictive text either! I know that when it left my thumb, I knew what it meant or was trying to say.
Thankyou for taking the time to read this, as clear as mud now. No doubt. I have known me for 40 years, and I am still baffled - so just take it all with a pinch of salt...if you feel the bloodpressure rising, have a few deep breaths and we will all be funky little funsters!
Who I'd like to meet: Using this for recreation, so decent personalities is a good description.
Finally Timothy Taylor, the brewer. Madonna regards her favourite drink as Landlord, and it is well documented what a fitness fiend she is.
Actually I am much better of the cold, now I am just coughing (that sucks), but is is much better too! How are the things going? Have a nice and lazy Sunday...
I'm not keen on clowns either. That's from Clearwater Florida 74 or 77. It's not just any old clown. It's Ronald MacDonald! The rest of the reel is about a little girl called Jo-anne. At the end of the film she holds up a certificate saying "I met Ronald MacDonald". She looks very proud.
I buy other people's home movies on e-bay. Bit odd I know. Mostly super-8.
I've only had about a third of them telecined so far - it's really expensive.
I burst into tears when I saw the Angel. I was so surprised because it's such a comforting thing to look at. But when you look at how it's made it's not at all pretty or prissy.
I think the public are right to be sceptical about artists - a lot of what's foisted on people is soul-less, middle-class crap.
Have you seen the "Big Art" project on Channel 4. - very inspiring! It really shows how ordinary people have a massive taste, passion and understanding of what is is and what it should be.
Niagara was very goog and everybody aske me if I saw someone in barris.......lol! No, I didnt...hehehe. Looked like you have enjoyed your life, huh? This is good... I love to go out too, but I haven..t done it much cause I cant drive yet, just after receive my Green card (patience!).
Is always nice hear from you. Have a nice day, okay? Bye.
Martin, thanks for your knid words...touched an old indie rocker's heart. Truly. Dunno about finishing my solo sets with If... though. Would feel like a bad cover version without my boys behind me, if you know what I mean.
