  • EP is done folks! - new songs on MySpace

    Current mood:accomplished

Good afternoon, decrepit social networking tool,
After what is a loooong time, the EP has finally been fully mixed, mastered and, aside from some artwork dinkles, ready to go! Not much to say at this point, I'll write a self-indulgent blog post when it is available to purchase but it is nice to think that this little project is almost out of the door so i can move onto something new. I thought I'd put up a couple of new tracks on MySpace as a stopgap so now you can find the final version of the title track (mixed by the awesome Ronson Jonson), the original mix of Heather and a Supertramp cover for your troubles :)

    Enjoy!

  • Collaboration with The Autumnkind now up on YouTube

    Current mood:artistic

Ya gotta love those boys in The Autumnkind, having spent a drunken evening a while back tell Marc how unbelievably awesome his song, Halfcut was, he and the rest of the band let me join them onstage when I supported them at an unplugged gig of theirs at The Maltings Art Theatre. They let me sing the lead vocal :)

If you haven't heard them already, check them out! They are fucking awesome:

  • Facebook Music Page now up

    Current mood:artistic

MySpace is awesome from my perspective as a musician but for most people, it isn't used for Social Networking anymore (*In the style of Cher from Clueless* that, is like, SOOOO 2006). Despite my love-hate relationship with Facebook, I have a Facebook Page for my musical projects now:

If you are on the book-of-face, come by and add yourself as a fan, the more the merrier :)

  • Strange Little Boys and Lady GaGa

    Current mood:artistic

Just a quick note to say that the most recent addition to my collection of unlikely pop covers is up to listen to on my page - Lady GaGa? Yep, she may write music which is popular amongst Chavs (to all non-UK people, insert the relevent derogatory reference there) but she is quite a talented songwriter and pianist, she is just using her powers for evil rather than good :) Just Dance is a great pop song, well constructed (To approximate the vocal patterns took 3 intertwined vocal tracks and this is a stripped down acoustic version) with a fantastic chorus hook - I'm proud of this 'lil cover, I think it's one of my better ones :)

I'm slowly putting together a collection of unlikely covers with the theme being that all the songs are originally by female singer-songwriters. Aside from Lady GaGa, I've done covers of Tori Amos, Stevie Nicks, Rhianna, Imogen Heap, Jenny Owen Youngs, Katy Perry, Jewel and LeAnn Rimes over the last few years and I'd like to slowly record them all :) I initially wanted to call it 'Pop In The Key Of Misery' but think 'Strange Little Boys' seems a better title - tipping my hat to Tori Amos who came up with the original concept but with the genders reversed for her all-male covers record 'Strange Little Girls' :) I'm in no rush to finish this collection - it is fun, people enjoy covers and I really enjoying doing them but I love writing music and that will always take priority.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the track, I had a blast recording it :)
