Martin Gilmore takes audiences on journeys through life with songs he has penned...and the experience always has audiences coming away with a brand new perspective. Through his music, he explores many topics certain to bring listeners closer to the characters portrayed in his songs. Combine this talent with superb singing and fluid guitar work, and the whole becomes greater than the sum of the parts. As a youth, Martin took an interest in piano, studying the fundamentals of music through that instrument. He also joined a variety of choirs throughout his school years, which ultimately gave him the opportunity to sing with The University of Wyoming Collegiate Chorale, as well as performing with the MENC All-Northwest honor Choir. He also was a select student for music leadership in high school where he got the opportunity to study with the Bob Chilcott of the Kings Singer. Choir experiences have taken him on tours of the Northwest, Rocky Mountain region and Plains States as well as throughout southern Europe. Martin was no stranger to competition as a youth, winning many performance awards as a vocalist, pianist and guitarist. His songwriting matured and at the age of eighteen, he started writing what he considers to be his first “real songs”. Heading off to college, he began playing in a variety of local venues and meeting other musicians. The draw into acoustic music, and specifically bluegrass took him to many festivals throughout the United States.

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...
Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
Hi Martin. It was great seeing you on Saturday even though the circumstances were untoward. You, your dad and sis sounded great, just super. I hope you have a great week and that your Spring is creative and exciting.

Hey man! IBMA was awesome of course but I unfortunately had to leave on Wednesday, which totally sucked. The time that I did spend there couldn't have been better though. I'm glad to hear that Hardly Strictly was good. I'm so jealous that you guys got to hear Stu! I'm sure it was insane. Do you know any more details about your record?
Hey Martin, I really like your sound. I just got back from the mountains in southern Colorado. I hope to move out your way again soon. Hope to meet up with ya maybe? Keep pickin & grinnin bro.....its the best way to keep from going insane I think :))
