I try to explain this the best I can....Thanksgiving is a national holiday for both Canada and United States.... Canada it is the 1st monday of October and US is the 4th thursday of October....It is a harvest festival where we give thanks to the harvest and express gratitude in general.... Traditionally, the first Thanksgiving occurred on Plymouth Plantation, Massachusetts in 1621, that's when the Pilgrims came over the Mayflower from England. It wasn't until in the 1800's it became a national holiday for America. I could be mistaken but I think it was our President Abraham Lincoln who made it a national holiday.
