Martin Royle has been called the “paradigmatic indie rocker” (Washington Post)…but fans of his “manic live show” (The Onion) might disagree with that assessment.
Some people come for his aggressively inventive lyrics, a combination of accessible subject matter (sex, drinking, time travel) and Martin's personal brand of whimsy. Others come to see arguably today’s best young showman in American rock ’n roll.
Martin's music has been featured widely on television including recent episodes of Gossip Girl, Entourage and Eli Stone. In January Martin parted ways with his longtime band, critical and fan favorites Washington Social Club, to begin work on his first solo album Good Morning, Cruel World.

We are honored to be playing with you at the 930 Club on the 24th and really enjoyed having dinner with you and Taylor last night. Your work is singular in it's tone and authenticity and I can't wait to hear you on the 930 stage!!!
quite an interesting comment,i would be curious, happiness is a warm gun or maybe some massive attack.....any how.Long time no see. I hear rumor that you and The Mrs. are planning on moving to the pines for the summer? Could this be true? Hope all is well.Congrats on the Tour.
Marty, once again you wow us with your wisdom! I'm flattered by the kind words, but I must say I do feel like I was taken advantage of just a little bit, as it appears I was involved in a sexual act with you and yours, yet I was totally unaware of it at the time, and you did so without the help of drugs or booze... That's some Jedi shit right!
I considered myself lucky to be introduced to your music at your show in Nashville with Stars, but when I picked up my college's newspaper and read that you were coming to play at MY college.... Oh happy day!
In other words, I'm really glad that you decided to become involved with the ONE Campaign, and I'm really looking forward to your show in a couple weeks. See ya there!
I think you should drop the Martin and just go by "Royle" and you should named your next album "Royle-ly Fucked" and have the cover just be you sitting on a throne surrounded by women. Just sayin'
You sir have a lot of talent. I went to the show Monday not knowing what to expect from the opening act, and personally i wish you would have played a few extra songs. Peace out
I was really impressed by your show in Nashville. I'm really looking forward to Good Morning, Cruel World, and in the meantime I'm really enjoying your session at WOXY on my iPod. Keep it up Martin!
Hey Martin! I went to see you and Stars at the Asheville show... just wanted to let you know you did an AMAZING job. As a musician myself, I truly respect what you've done. You're very talented and I hope you come this way again soon!! Good luck with the rest of your tour!
Hey saw you at Sonar Wednesday, great show! I love your lyrics! I drove all the way from Pittsburgh (yaaaah road trips!) and I'll also be seeing you next week at Mr Smalls
