Martiria was formed back in 1987 by Massimo Di Vincenzo (vocalist) and Andy Menario Menarini ( a guitar player with an epic/power metal style such as : Warlord, Manowar).
At the beginning the band was very much oriented on Doom Metal sound such as: early Candlemass and Black Sabbath.
As the time goes by, the band naturally evolves and featuresvarious musicians up to 1998 when decide to take a brake for a while in order to experience different projects.
About a year ago, Andy Menario after an intense live activity with cover bands and recording studio work with DUNWICH ( Sul monte è il tuono- Black Widow Records and Il chiarore sorge due volte- Pick up Records) decides to get back to the Martiria project by involving musicians that were well known in the area of Rome.
Dario Daneluz, a vocalist with musical influences ranging from soul-dance to rock nu-metal, but most fo all a great front man with years of experience in many professional situation.
Maurizio Capitini, a genuine classic metal drummer previously member of Astaroth and Stiff also sound engineer of Martiria project.
Derek Maniscalco, bass player that comes with a style from the 70's progressive rock such as Pink floyd and Genesis.
Our goal is, starting from a very classic epic metal sound, to create a new style able to get the listener involved by heavy riffs and grooves to be shared with acoustical atmospheres featuring ancient and classical instruments leading to traditional melodies.
Just in the november 2003, Andy Menario contact (with help of Bill Tsamis - Warlord) Rick Anderson, ex Warlord's singer, and the great melodics and powerfull Rick's voice will be the key of caratheristics and superlative sound of the band.
In the same year, Andy knows Marco R. Capelli, italian writer and poet, who, since then, writes the lyrics of our songs.
The result is a mix of different styles, atmospheres and nuances that make MARTIRIA a unique band.

After STORMRIDER, ADRAMELCH and ALL SOUL’S DAY come MARTIRIA, which completely
blow me away! Those who love Metal in the vein of old WARLORD/LORDIAN GUARD stuff
will worship MARTIRIA, too! (The

Phew!!! I think that's about it. I don't really have anything else to add. Martiria
have done it this time and The Age… is one of the biggest surprises of 2005.
Just support a very good album, and an honest band that still does what the heart

The Eternal Soul (2004)
To
tell you the truth I really like this cd. It reminded me of the good old days
of my childhood. It's an honest effort to deliver good old heavy metal the way
it used to be. This is a mid to fast tempo album with 2-3 slow moments (I'm talking
about some introductions and the ballad Winter), with a large variety of sounds
and rhythms, with many powerful, sharp and furious riffs but at the same time
melodic moments, fast inspiring but yet again emotional solos, with a constant
rhythm section, the necessary keyboard fillings enhanced with piano and accordion
that usually produce a Celtic atmosphere and the proper clear and dynamic vocals.
My personal picks are The Ancient Lords, Babylon Fire The Gray Outside and

Mercatale di Cortona (AR) ed è ad INGRESSO GRATUITO e che vedrà la

Venerdì 10 Aprile 2009 alle ore 21.30 al “Lucrezia”, Vico Dei Caprettari 16 – 18 r, Genova, quinta serata della rassegna di mostre ed eventi “Il Signor Mario a Genova”, organizzata dall'Associazione THC Polimedia in collaborazione con l'Associazione Nero Events, che prevede il reading di “Tracks For Mira”, dello scrittore ligure Carlo Di Francescantonio, già autore di libri di culto quali “Puttana Sensibile”.
Seguiranno le esibizioni dei Last Rites, storica trash metal band di Savona, attiva da oltre dieci anni; degli Zorn, terzetto di nu / trash metal cantato in italiano e dei Carcharodon, trio di Alassio.
Sabato 11 Aprile ore 21.30 THC Polimedia da l’arrivederci alla città chiudendo il primo ciclo di eventi presso “La lepre”, Piazza Lepre 5 r, con la mostra Pu-Pazzi dell'artista Marco Montanari e il reading poetico dal libro “ Il dolore della bambola”, di Claudia Murachelli, in arte Fallen Angel.

THC Polimedia torna a Genova sabato 28 Marzo 2009 ore 21.30 presso il Garibaldi Cafè, Via Ai Quattro Canti di S.Francesco 40 r, con la mostra di arte contemporanea dell'artista ferrarese Luca Zarattini e la presentazione del libro “Eroi senza Trionfo” della scrittrice camogliese Nicoletta Tienforti, a cura del regista romano Alessandro Galli.
La serata proseguirà sulle melodie del pianoforte.
Si apre il 27 Marzo 2009 ore 21.30 allo Shakespeare Cafè, Piazza di Sarzano 2 A r Genova, con la collettiva d’arte contemporanea “Il Signor Mario”, il ciclo di eventi artistici THC POLIMEDIA che animerà “la Superba” fino al 13 Aprile 2009.
Ospite d’onore la scrittrice Barbara Baraldi col suo ultimo successo “La Casa di Amelia”, presentato e accompagnato dalle musiche di Stefano Agnini,lettrice Erika Muscarella.
La serata proseguirà con un live di “Radio PNR” a cura di Massimo Carpaneto.
L’evento è in collaborazione con News on Stage.
Alle ore 24, presso la chupiteria “Alla Goccia”, Via San Donato 16 r, avrà luogo la mostra Doppelganger dell’illustratore Daniele Mattei.
L’oscuro tema del doppio contrasta con la sfrenata allegria del locale, dove il barman acrobatico vi stupisce con infuocate composizioni alcoliche.
