私はピアノを弾く。
I play the piano.

a little bit about the songs here:
Some Things Always Change - a piece I wrote for a music styles assignment back in 2008. my dad is on drums. there's a few worthy displays of performance anxiety affecting my playing in this recording.

When Sunny Gets Blue - a standard, one of my favourite ballads, arranged for my VCA small ensemble. tom noonan on alto sax, shannon busch on vocals, alistair robertson on bass.

Blue Monk - another arrangement of a standard for VCA small ensemble, lineup as above. with this one we modulated up a third or so now and then. at the end, we all play in different keys at the same time.

Alfie - an 'orchestral' arrangement I worked on for my first year recital, it turned out quite well. georgie darvidis on vocals, steve hornby on bass.

Karaboudjan - an original I wrote to play in my first year recital. essentially it's based on superimposing different minor pentatonic scales over a C-sharp minor vamp. in 5/4. i named it after the Armenian cargo liner in the Tintin installment "The Crab With The Golden Claws". tom noonan on alto sax, audrey boyle on trumpet, steve hornby on bass, my dad on drums.

Jim clip - a short 20 second clip i smashed together a while ago for a friend. he was making a cd of about 100 tracks of about 20-30 seconds length, featuring many esteemed artists in the tracks. i decided to contribute.

Watashitachi - I wrote this song for a band of the same name that was formed this year. we played a set of originals at 303 in Northcote to wide acclaim, so hopefully we'll get together soon. natasha rose on guitar, andy szentandrassy on tenor sax, leonardo caltabiano on double bass, jordan scotney on drums.

it sounds like youre living the dream marty!

i saw it last weekend. i really liked it, but it wasnt what i expected in some ways.

ive just been working in the holidays and now am out of cash. started tafe this past week. doing a certificate 3 in accounting, but im going to have done the advanced diploma by the end of next year. then maybe uni! gonna be living in melbourne in 4 years though no matter what =D

improvisation sounds awesome! musical improv or drammatical? im very glad to hear youve been reading lots =D. if you can find it cheap you should get "the draco tavern" by larry niven. its just a bunch of short stories set in and around this tavern in siberia for aliens. good stuff =D. sadly i have to say i havnt been reading as many books as i used to lately.
still going strong on the comics but!

yeah, im 18

and thatd be awesome, i havnt been out on the town yet

i think itll be ok

ive seen the trailer for it and shots of all the characters, and im glad they look mostly like they do in the comics

the comedian looks pretty much EXACTLY the same

and i think 300 was a very good adaptation of the 300 comic book, and zack snyders filming style is quite comicy in its own way

hopefully it wont all be on blue screen like 300 was though

im looking forward to seeing rorschach in action though =D
