My adventure with music, started when I was 14/15 years old. At september 97 my friends from elementary school made a band. My instrument was an old and broken russian guitar that was an substitute of bass. Couple of months later, i bought maybe not very good but my own classical guitar. For Christmas I have recived a reall bass guitar, I didnt know that instrument is very special and that was a sign to me.
In that time there were many of bands with my friends from my district, no one lived on a challenge of time. My real start with music was late 2000 when I met Nexus Guitars - Jacek Kobylski. At that time I was spending all days in the guitar shop, playing every guitar that interested me in some way. Jacek teached me how to play and practice correctly and what is important.
Jacek is a bass player, and his influent style Was very important to my progress. I have started to watch bass players articulation, groove and harmony. It was and it is for now many times more absorbing for me than 'light speed arpeggios'.
For me, after Mozart there are two musicians who I can call without any doubts a genial greatness. First one is late Jack Francis Anthony Pastorius III, known as a JACO. Second one exequo is Pat Metheny.
Jaco showed me how I can use chromatics, He opened my mind and inspired me to play a fretless guitar (Nexus Laudanium). Pat Metheny inspired me to build my own guitar with a harp section (Sho-On Harp), His musical estetique and arrangements are a paragon for me.
Sho-On Harp, is a fusion of the electric guitar and electric harp. This instrument is 100% my project and work, I made it by myself. The upper section is standard guitar neck tuned on drop-D, with two Dimarzio HS-3 single coils. The lower section is an electric harp, the measure is taken from the original philharmonical harp. Section has a 12 strings tuned right now on traditional japaneese scale with some changes for my taste. Electronics in harp : two humbuckers - Seymour Duncan SH-2 Jazz Custom Shop, two singles - Seymour Duncan SSL-4 Custom Staggered. All is wired with Sadowsky 3-way preamp. How do I play it ? It is very simple. Left hand plays melody by tapping, right hand plays chords on a harp :)
