Bio
Dunmore East singer/songwriter Martyn Travis left Waterford, Ireland, in the early 80’s and moved to Holland, where he teamed up with Dutch multi-instrumentalist Siard de Jong. For the next five years, Martyn and Siard gigged the length and breadth of Holland and travelled to Germany, Belgium, England and the USA, playing folk clubs, theatres and festivals. During this time they recorded the well received album “Walk a Path” and also formed the Folk Rock Band ‘Plan B’. Initially influenced by folk and trad. Martyn spent many years on the road and as time progressed, he developed a more contemporary style. The music could now be described as a rhythmic fusion of folk and rock, Martyn moved back to Ireland in 1989 and has continued gigging and writing. In 2005, he formed the ‘Martyn Travis Band’. In 2006 they recorded an EP entitled ‘Slow it all Down’. “Pour me a pint of the Martyn Travis Band, a gutsy four piece trading in a tasty line-up of pungent folk-rock, spicing up Travis’ upful songs with the dextrous accordian playing of Tom Kelly. “New day” is so catchy you’ll think you’ve known it forever, and it wouldn’t be out of place in Steve Earle’s catalogue, while the stomping “Slow it all Down” reflects a modern world of hustle and bustle with effective harmonies and fine band playing. “Place in my Heart for you” is a cute ballad, waltzy but not smaltzy, with appealing guitar figures running gently under the surface. So if you’re tired of self obsessed introspection and singers singing love songs to themselves, checkout the feelgood factor from Travis and his band.” Jackie Hayden, Hot Press Magazine, June 2008 Martyn’s songs have been recorded by varying artists including Country and Bluegrass band Reckless Fingers, Singer songwriter Gill Burns, American folk duo Oceans Apart, Irish American singer Brid Dower, Singer and guitarist Alex Beaton and the Arizona based band ‘The Knockabouts’. -

I reject this Treaty as undemocratic in conception and in content. Please, vote NO on this Treaty for me as a first step to building a common social,
ecological, democratic and peaceful Europe.
