About me:
Being a Gemini and performing at renaissance faires provides me with two good excuses for having multiple personnas (I'll answer to Mark if you insist, but I prefer Martyn, especially on - or near - stage). In addition to my most important life roles, those of husband and father, I'm a musician, singer and actor.
I play acoustic guitar, bass guitar, octave mandolin, bouzouki, various percussion instruments (hand drums, tambourine, the infamous egg and bodhran - not well, but working on it) and I love singing, especially harmony. I enjoy nearly all musical genres - although there are a few exceptions - and I perform solo and with two musical groups; Celtic Mayhem & Wyldefyre. We play in pubs and at renaissance, medieval, pirate and Celtic festivals.
My solo CD, Minstrel's Lament, is available at
http://cdbaby.com/cd/martynwylde. Wyldefyre has three CDs available online and we're planning a new CD of pyrate and sailing songs - Tree getting back to her Privy-Tiers roots - recording will start as soon as we've finished choosing and, in some cases, writing the songs.
The first Celtic Mayhem CD was released in February '09 and can be found on CD Baby and on the band's website (
www.celticmayhem.net), along with itunes and other digital download sites. Many thanks to everyone for their kind words about both my album and Celtic Mayhem's initial effort. We're already planning another one and it will be even better!
I'm also a druid, having completed the Bardic grade course of The Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids (OBOD). I'm debating when to continue my studies with the Ovate Grade. I expect I will do - but I'm taking a break and letting what I've learned sink in and further manifest itself in daily life.
Who I'd like to meet:
I've met a lot of people I'd wanted to, notably my all-time fretless bass hero Jack Bruce and two of my five all-time guitar heroes, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton (the other three are Jeff Beck, Martin Simpson and Martin Carthy).
And I'd be remiss not to mention my friend and mentor Craig of Farrington, without whom.........
I'd like to meet Bob Boze Bell, Bill Clinton, President Obama, Sir Paul McCartney and the list of musicians I'd like to play with could be nearly endless, although right at the top of the list would definitely be Ty Billings, Jack Stamates, Craig Broers, Jerry Barry, Jim Hancock and Thomas Nuendel and I have had the good fortune and extreme pleasure to have played music with all of them.
But of the people I haven't met (or rather won't get a chance to meet, 'cause they've passed on), the list would include: Queen Elizabeth I, Bat Masterson, Ross Nicols, George Harrison, Ghandi, Groucho Marx, James Butler Hickok, and Turlough O'Carolan.

Thanks for the add, the music, and the friendship. I always look forward to every time that I get to hear you sing, and "Minstrel's Lament", as you know, is in heavy rotation on my cd player. Stay well, my friend.
