Marvel at Elephants was founded just at the beginning of 2007. Three fourth of its members live in Hamburg, one guy in Lüneburg (these are two cities, one bigger one, one smaller one, in northern Germany).
Basically it goes like this: One guy is writing songs, at home, with his guitar, hopefully inspired by something interesting. For example things he is confronted with in the city he lives in (the bigger one) and the thoughts coming to his mind afterwards. After that the others bring in their ideas (sometimes say: no, sorry, we can’t do that!) and the result is some kind of folky, sometimes countryesk guitar music we hope to reach your heart with, which we consider more important than your head.
I just read on the myspace of Dakota Suite that he (Chris Hooson) couldn’t see the real need for anymore music. Of course he’s right. And of course he’s wrong. You can find everything in the music of the great already. But we have our needs as well. And if in the end all that our music is about is bowing before these greats – so what?
