Marvlun Reed's current book, "Near The Cross," and her newly released Music CD (same title), reflects her passion for the written word and her unyielding desire to share her faith with others. No doubt- if you have already read her work, or seen her worship, you know this!
From a very early age, Marvlun Housing-Reed was exposed to the message of the gospel through song. She hails from a long line of worshipers (music ministers, soloists, and choir members). Her first encounter was @ Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Silver Creek, Mississippi where she watched her great-grandmother, Arlena Price minister the gospel through song.
At the tender age of eleven, the pull toward the music ministry deepened. It was actually the vehicle that God used to bring her closer to Him and to the saving knowledge of Christ!!! She joined the choir and shorty after was given the song, “Near The Cross,” to lead during a youth service. Near The Cross was the theme song of her childhood church, True Vine of Holiness Missionary Baptist Church, where Reverend Henderson Hill was the Pastor. Her first time singing the song actually came during an adult service when the lady that normally sang the song lost her voice. She turned to the young Marvlun and there began the journey that eventually led to the writing of her first book, “Near The Cross,” and her soon-to-be released debut CD, of the same title.
About 10 years ago, Marvlun received the vision for the Book and CD combination. She stepped out on faith and pursued the path that the Lord laid out before her. He opened doors and brought people into her life to help shape and mode her while preparing her for what was to come. Marvlun is passionate about the call, to reach the unreached and to tell the untold! She is a true worshiper and a lover of the Word of God! Her songs are all Word based and Holy Spirit Inspired!! She is Anointed And Appointed to Write and to Sing The Gospel.
Marvlun has been featured on several different television shows,and participated in conferences around the country. Her passion for the Lord is unmistakable.
Marvlun Reed holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism (1993) from Columbia College Chicago and has completed her studies with "The International School of Ministry," graduating in 2006. She is an Author, Singer/Songwriter.
Her testimony is featured in the book, “Near The Cross,” and Her debut CD of the same title is scheduled for release March 20, 2009.

Hello my friend Just stop by to encourage you that all though we may be going through changes in our lives we are going to make it. We say that we want to change but in order to really change our lives we have to go through some changes. We have to take off the old man and put on the new and that requires a change. Sometime change is for our good. If it was not for a change we will never grow, we would never know just how strong we really are and we could never be a example for Christ. Whatever change you are going through just let go and let God work it out. He is ready, willing and able. Love ya!!!!
