"Nice Girl" is the second album from Los Angeles based songwriter, Mary Beth Abella. Abella is the recipient of the Lionel Richie 2005 Songwriting Scholarship at UCLA, finalist in the Song of the Year contest, and a nominee of Westword Magazine's Best of Denver 2003 in the Singer Songwriter category. Mary Beth has been selected to perform in various showcases and festivals including ROCKRGRL Music Conference in Seattle and the Acoustic Live Music Showcase in LA. Her debut album, "What Happened to the Girls?" was released in 2002 and was also named one of the best releases of 2002 by both the Denver Daily News and Westword Magazine. The track, "Leave You Behind" (co-written by producer and brother, John Abella) was featured on a couple of MTV Real World and Road Rules episodes. One of her songs from the new album, "Nice Girl" can be heard in the indie feature, "Go Fish."
Abella has also modeled for a friend's book, "Hot Romantic Escapades for Lovers," which was released in 2007 by fellow SGI Buddhist, Christine Dupree, and is currently available for sale on line and in various retail outlets. A photo from Abella's album was also used on Fox TV's "House." Album photos were done by the very talented photographer and designer, Jana.
A social activist and SGI Buddhist, the artist has produced numerous shows featuring female artists, including the benefit, "Girls Gone Kerry," with Michelle Shocked as emcee, and was also the Founder of Colorado Women in Music, a coalition whose goal was to provide a web of support to local women in the music industry. Abella has opened for Heart, Mates of State, Juliana Hatfield and Alana Davis. She has toured the country and performed in Denver, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas, Chicago, Washington D.C. and Delaware as well as her hometown of Los Angeles. She continues to play around Los Angeles, practice Buddhism, and volunteer her time to good causes.

Seeing as I work for the biggest corp. in history; it's not that great, hehe. My music will be picking up soon, so..that's good. I'll be performing before I know it.
saw may beth play the other night. if you are looking for a cuter singer forget it. mary beth has the market cornered. if i had to compare her to any one, and i hate this.............it would be neko case and the new pornographers doing "fake headlines". if you can appreciate REAL harmonies, a real point of view on life, and kick ass presence, mary beth is your girl. also if you want to hear real tunes about you and not the singer..................get thee hence
Holy crap. I haven't checked this thing in months. I was wondering if I still had an account and barely remembered my password to get onto it. And lo and behold, a brand spanking new message for my birfday! Thanks.
We're fine here. The kids are peachy and Iowa City has been a really good place to land with them.
