When you hear someone talking about independent music, it's important to know the difference between what is independent and what is true independent. An independent label that has any kind of backing or connection with major labels, is not a true independent. We hope to see more true independents come to light in the coming years ahead.
Who would have known that we would have made it this far..? I for sure didn't..but now is where it all matters. There are only a few hours left in the competition! Its pretty much tied up right now, so every vote counts!
HIN city has selected some of the top cars of the nation and took 8 of the west coast cars to go up against 8 of the top east coast cars. We are down to the final 2 cars!! Hokori's WRX vs Jinsoku's Celica.
If you can spare a minute out of your busy schedule, please register, log in, and vote for me! I need all the support I can get. You can vote once per day so don't forget to come back tomorrow!
The summer concert season is here, and we want to share something very important with you.
Every summer, the major labels scramble to vie for your entertainment dollar.
They put their superficial, shallow acts in the line up of events that don't acknowledge true independent music.
Even though they may claim to be for independent music, they really are not. The truth is that they lock out independent artists who are not major labels; or affiliated with major labels, and who are in direct competition with them.
Within each event, there is usually a little clique that decides for us; what they want us to hear, instead of programming music that we really like and want to hear. It's just like what's going on in commercial radio. A select few get to decide for us, what they deem appropriate for our ears; and for their affiliates.
Does this seem right, or even fair to be treated this way?
The time has come, for us to put our collective foot down. The only way to let these people know that we're not going to take this treatment anymore, is by staying home; when they start making their cattle calls to come spend our hard earned dollars at their overpriced, and superficially lame events.
Don't spend a single dollar, until the point has been made perfectly clear to these people; that we want to see positive changes take place in the music industry. Too many great bands and artists are prevented from sharing great music, because we are being force fed what major labels and radio decide they want us to hear.
YOU have the power, to turn things around. Instead of going to that "festival" or that "block party"...do something else. Don't continue to feed a system that is corrupt, and broken. Instead, let it be known that people matter; and find something more worthwhile to do.
And don't forget about the letter for change in the music buisness. The numbers are growing! Tell everyone you know about it, and keep them coming in!
