Combining the exotic classiness of '40s bombshells with the sultry crooning of vintage torch singers, the infectious melodic of contemporary pop vocalists, and the urban grit of modern R&B, Mary Fakhoury unites the past and present for her own eclectic artistic version. Based in Chicago, Fakhoury has never limited herself to a single genre; instead, she has complemented her varied tastes in music with heartfelt experimentation, flirting with everything from jazz to rock.
Fakhoury released her debut CD, "About Me," in 2003. The three-track EP reflected Fakhoury's no-boundaries approach to recording albums, simultaneously inspired by her admiration for Billie Holiday to Top-40 balladry. Her next record, 2007's "Universal Worlds," explored the depths of Fakhoury's versatility, a critically-acclaimed smash-up of French and Arabic music, jazz, and hip-hop. In his review of "Universal Worlds," Julian Wilson of Trans Europe Xpress described Fakhoury as "a chameleon who is even more unpredictable than David Bowie and Madonna." Critic Lucinda Coyne awarded "Universal Worlds" with an A- grade and raved that Fakhoury "is able to find enough range in her voice to meet the expectations of these various genres. She does it all with bold self-confidence, not missing a beat at all."
In addition to performing, Fakhoury is also a print and commercial model for BMG Models and Lily's Talent Agency.
