Mary Garcia Garner Biography

Born in the South East of England Mary Garcia Garner acquired her first guitar aged 12. Early influences included Suzi Quatro, Keith Richards & AC / DC’s Young brothers.

  Freelance guitarist, bass player, vocalist and songwriter ..- currently touring nationally and internationally with Vampires Rock and performing Live Lounge style gigs with Garbo Acoustic Duo.

Mary is equally at home playing electric, bass or acoustic guitar. She is an experienced backing vocalist with a strong on stage persona - used to playing all at types of venues from rock arenas to intimate acoustic gigs. Mary’s other areas of expertise include music and art tuition and background in e-commerce and retail management.

2001 until 2007 over 350 appearances during seven national theatre tours, international dates in Holland, Northern and Republic Of Ireland and UAE, outdoor festivals including Rock and Blues Custom Bike Show.

Guitar / backing vocals in Steve Steinman’s Vampires Rock

2002 until 2007 over 250 appearances - five national theatre tours and one arena tour working with highly respected artists such as Eddie Ojeda (Twisted Sister). Performing at venues including Manchester M.E.N, Sheffield Hallam Arena, Edinburgh Playhouse, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Margate Wintergardens and Centre Stage Butlins.

King Elle

2001 - 2010 lead guitarist, vocalist and song writer with King Elle four piece rock band formed with other members of the Vampires Rock and Zephyr 6. Last release the “Ten Ten Ten” e.p recorded at Mesters analogue studios December 2009.

‘Zephyr 6’

Late 90’s to early naughties played lead guitar and sang backing vocals in ‘Zephyr 6’ 1960’s Show - covering material by artists such as Janis Joplin, The Who, Francoise Hardy and The Flies. Touring nationally and performing at events ranging from beer festivals and private parties to night clubs.

Atomic Kandy

Early to mid 90’s as founder member, co-songwriter lead guitarist Mary toured, recorded and released original material with Atomic Kandy. AK were featured on Channel 4 and BBC radio with national headline slots including Leicester Abbey Park Festival, London Gay Pride, Scottish Pride and the Heineken Festival. They released a single on their own Superior Mother label and had a national fanbase.

Hex Hex

Early to late 90’s toured English and European folk club, bistro and festival circuit. Played guitar on original and traditional tunes in this instrumental acoustic trio.

Jo Freya

Early 90’s accompanied vocalist / saxophonist Jo Freya (of Blowzabella, Scarp and Old Swan Band fame) on acoustic guitar performing a mixture of traditional folk, world music and original material.
