“A voice built for singing of lingering touches (check out her gorgeous Two Step) and songwriting skills built for the subtle but lasting detail.”- Independent Weekly
"The musical backing serves as flickering streetlights, directing you to the voice and words of one Mary Johnson Rockers down below. And that’s where the brightest lamp should shine.”
-Rick Cornell in review of No Place for Birds to Rest (Independent Weekly)
Thanks, Mary! I've added Wish You Away to the first position on my page's playlist. I especially love the melody direction at the line, "Can't get you out of my head". I'm hoping the weather mid August will be bearable so that I can drive down to Chatham Marketplace late afternoon to catch your performance there.
PS - are you playing this year at Carrboro Music Festival, Sept.20?
Did you know your player is set so that we your many fans cannot add your songs to our playlists? That's a shame!
Please change this, because I want to share fanhood with my other friends who don't know you. If you promise to schedule a local show soon, I won't take this oversight personally. Otherwise. .. (clasps neck with both hands, tilts head to side and hangs tongue out in a choking gesture. eeek!)
Mary, I'd been wanting to work up photos from your Carrboro Music Festival show and haven't gotten to it. But I did get photos finished from your dynamic show last week at Local 506! They're at http://www. fotki. com/templesofgrey . Here's a sample below. Also, I posted some videos at http://www. youtube. com/betsybetsybetsy . Fantastic show last week!!!
It sounds incredible! I love it! I..m a mary..s fan long time ago. I met mary in seville when "says the water was still "The eye of the storm. Even I played with her in a little concert!. Mary is a incredible songwriter and singer, but even more is a incredible person
It was so great meeting you in North Carolina. We were playing your CD all across the country and I can't get so many of your songs out of my head! I really enjoyed your set at The Cave and hope our paths cross way again soon.
pssssh. not hardly. tracy and i have a fake band called lap child. you can be our guitarist if you'd like. though that would make it more like a real band. but i've got a piano and lots of instruments at my house if you want to come over and play sometime!
i'm sorry i could not make it to your show! my crazy spring travel schedule is almost through and i would like to take you out for some celebratory drinking soon! congratulations on all of your most recent achievements!
