You can hear the first four tracks from the CD I have made with Adrian Newton (laptop). The tracks are electroacoustic free improvisations. All the sampling is live, and each track is unedited in length and content. In other words, you get what happened on the day.
It's a really exciting way to work - I start with an idea, Adrian samples a bit and as I continue playing, he plays it back and I respond - like playing catch with music, but also like dancing with shadows. He can change the piano sound so it sounds like a prepared piano, so my fingers land on new sounds, like being put in an alien territory without a map.

Billed as the South Coast's Experimental Music Collective, Safehouse, now in it's third year, operates on a monthly basis at The Lighthouse (formerly Poole Arts Centre). The collective, initiated by Steve and ZAUM cohorts Cathy Stevens and Udo Dzierzanowski, attracts a regular clientel of both players and listeners.
Free improvisation is at the heart of the venture and future plans includethe release of material recorded in the house and collaboration with other experimental artists.
