Since the release of her debut album “Two In The Saddle”in June of 2008, Mary Resek has taken great strides in building her music career.
With single releases to both Canadian and European radio, along with placing in the top 10 on the ECMA charts, Mary is showing promise in the country music industry.
A born and bred Calgarian, Mary is the youngest in a family of six.
Her musical influences and country roots began at the tender age of four, when her family would gather around the Resek house for their saturday night jams. Mary’s Dad, Tony Resek, would play guitar, yodel and sing the old traditional country tunes, while Mary and her siblings would harmonize and play guitar, accordion or organ. Tony, who had played and sung in a band, always said to his kids, “You gotta learn those harmonies. A good country song isn’t complete unless you have those harmonies”,Mary recalls.
Mary’s brother Ronnie was a guitarist and Singer/Songwriter in a Portland Oregon Rock’N’Roll band and her aunt Mary had a professional career with the Opera. With having such a strong family heritage in music , stirred the fire for a career in entertainment.
Her first public performances started at age seven with the school choir and then later on throughout high school performing in the school band playing saxophone.
After graduation from high school , Mary sang in her church choir and performed in musical theatre. These activities spawned serious involvement in various vocal competitions including the Kiwanis Music Festival placing first for Alto Saxophone solo, as well as a finalist in the adult vocal category. Two major vocal competitions Country 105 “Rising Star” and CFCW Country “Vocal Spotlight” placed Mary also as a finalist.
These successes prompted Mary to make performing part of her regular diet... Showcasing her talents at first, then entertaining at Clubs, Legion Halls, private functions, Stampede Breakfasts, BBQ’S, and Corporate Functions.
A loyal audience and fan base quickly surfaced.
Mary realized then that Traditional Country music was her true passion and has pursued this dream ever since.
Audience acceptance for a budget EP recording prompted Mary to take the next big step... investing in a professionally recorded studio session. Recorded at Alberta’s Premier Studio “ The Beach Studios” in Calgary, Alberta with top Producer Lanny Williamson , Mary's debut album "Two In The Saddle", was released in late June 2008. It reveals just a little of Mary’s “spirit” and offers a true Traditional Country sound.
The tracks turned out so well that NeXXt Records got on board to distribute and help promote her new CD. “Two In The Saddle” is a culmination of efforts to date, and broadcasters across North America and Europe are debuting Calgary’s newest Traditional Country star.
Mary is currently performing at various venues ranging from Stampede Breakfasts, BBQS, Seniors Clubs, Lodges, Private /Corporate Functions and Legions to being a Soloist within the church community.
Plans are underway in 2009/2010 to take her music to the next level with subsequent single releases to radio, and putting together a full band. She is continuing to develop and spread her music and talent where ever she can and is building a fan base and performances that are now expanding beyond her hometown of Calgary Alberta.

Goodnight Mary. You and I have some of the same friends. Guess it's because we both love yodeling. I just fell asleep at the computer. Guess I better toddle off to bed. Hope all is well with you. We had a fabulous day today at the festival and riding in the country. Luv ya, -Jimmy
Hi Mary! I saw you on Naomi Bristow's page and I am a hugh fan of yodeling. Now I must go to your site and listen. Naomi blew my socks off and I bought all three of her CD's. What a little yodeling sweetheart. errr I mean Cowgirl. haha -Jimmy
Hey Mary! As promised I had to come listen to your yodeling and was throughly entertained. No two people do it exactly the same and yours is so sweet. Loved it! Looks like you are keeping a really full schedule of performances. I know another Canadian singer that lives in Alberta. Her name is Kaleigh Jo Kirk. Now, that's a little sweetheart! She writes her own songs too. She is teaming up with Sugar Filly records and will be the first one signed early next year. She will do well I know. You can catch her linked off of this site if you like. I told her about me finding a lot of Canadian talent. You are one of them Mary. -Jimmy
