Anti-Musikkapelle, Mobile Bigband, Karawane von Dilettanten mit leichtem Hang zum Wahnsinn... das alles ist das Masala Brass Kollektiv - oder versucht es zumindest zu sein... Die Mission der offenen Formation (MusikerInnen willkommen!), die seit 2007 ihr Unwesen treibt: Eine Alternative zur traditionellen österreichischen Blasmusik, welche größtenteils in ihren militärischen Wurzeln erstarrt ist. Das Masala Brass Kollektiv bläst jedenfalls andere Töne: Balkan Brass, Klezmer und Zirkusmusik, aber auch Alternative-Rock bestimmen das Programm der Grazer Banda, die auch immer gerne engagierte Initiativen mit ihrem Gepuste unterstützt.

Masala Brass Kollektiv have been founded by a couple of students wanting to establish an alternative to traditional austrian village brass bands, who play basically military marches and Polkas. We want to swing! That's why we appreciate the rich and lively music of the balcans, which start practically in front of our door: Slovenia is just half an hour away from our hometown, Graz. We play balcan brass classics as well as Klezmer, and we mix them up with funk and rock grooves (We also cover bands like The Queens of the Stoneage). We love to play on the streets as well as in crowded, hot places with lots of sweat in the air!
