The band's story looks like a screenplay – great success at the beginning and “to be continued” at the end.
“Masha i Medvedi” was formed by Maria Makarova and her friends, professional musicians, in 1997. Maria was young, curious, easy-going 20-year old student, studying journalistics and life. In a blink of an eye, the band was called “Outbreak of 1998” at Maxidrom festival, their records were being produced by Oleg Nesterov (frontman of Megapolis), mass media was excited, and people from different walks of life listened to “Lyubochka” and “Bez tebya”.
The band released two outstanding CDs – “Solnceklesh” and “Kuda?”. “Masha i Medvedi” was treated like “Phenomenon”, and Maria - like sex xymbol at Russian rock stage: she was so unusual, independent and natural. The band set new trends, gathered hundreds of people at the concerts, made experiments and...dissapeared.
It took them 5 years to come back with a new album “Bez yazika” (2006), which was much appreciated both by critics and by audience.
Now Masha i Medvedi are ready ro present absolutely new songs, new sound, new message to their devoted fans. The band is on the tour now, preceding the release of the new CD.
