MASI SALLINEN QUARTET was formed in 1998 in Helsinki, Finland. During this ten-year period the band has been a class act, playing clubs and festivals in Finland. The blues can be played in so many ways, and that‘s just what this band does.The lead singer MASI SALLINEN, has a deep, raw voice.
MATTI KETTUNEN is the lead guitarist and the main songwriter of the band. And then the ladies: on drums MARIKA HÖST and on bass LENA LINDROOS. All four of us sing.
We have made two albums. 'STRANGE BREW'-ep (Root Music 2000) and 'YEAH,YEAH,YEAH' (Rubato Music 2004) The next two are just waiting for the releases. There has also been a fine co-operation along the years with Mr. BILL SIMS , Jr., a bluesman from New York. A record together will be out...some day.
Masi Sallinen Quartets future looks good: performing as well as creating music that isn‘t dependent on trends and fashions, but music honouring the roots and adding a new flavour to it.
