It was a Saturday night and a big snow storm was coming though the North East. Out in West Chester, Pa the kind folks at Gee's Deli decided to close down the place and have some fun. Guitar player Paul Wilkinson invited some musicians to come along. Among them dobro player Jesse Weber and mandolinist Joe D'Amico. As the party got under way, the music played, the drinks were poured, and the town dug in for what turned out to be a quite a storm. Soon after Joe booked a gig at a local bar Rex's. The goup still unnamed and without a bass player enlisted upright bass player Tim Celfo for the gig and the band was complete. Since, Mason Porter have developed a unique sound blending traditional American roots music with a taste of the non-traditional and combined them into a high energy live performance. Being together for only a short time they have been lucky enough to share the stage with some of they're favorite local acts including Hoots and Hellmouth, David Janes, Wissahickon Chicken Shack, The New Time, Chris Kasper, Adrien Reju, Josh Komorowski, Jeremy Hollis and the infamous Kazoo and Tambourine Repair Company.
