A fierce foursome from Spartanburg, S.C, Harm Division is Sparkle City’s local chaos creating crusaders. With a set list consisting of pit-stirring songs and subliminal riot inciting messages,with a touch of groove, it’s a wonder as to why Harm Division hasn’t exploded on the S.C hardcore scene. Harm Division consists of E-J or Evil Jesus-vocals, Slow Mo-drums, Sticky-J-bass, and Tom Pain-guitar. Harm Division’s sound is unique rawness and some songs vaguely reminiscent of early Korn and Mudvayne, while still maintaining their own integrity. The guys describe their sound as “Clash of the Titans vs. War of the Worlds.” Chaos, madness, destruction, and pain are key ingredients in the recipe for Harm Division. Everything from the blood dripping down their faces on stage, to the rage projected in their live performances, and the kind of rawness that can only come from within make up the band’s image and message of apocalyptic chaos. During the course of one set with songs like “Spastic Acts of Madness”, “Riot Act”, and “Depopulate”, Harm Division takes their audience on a ride that deepens and accelerates the heart rate. Watching the guys perform, it’s apparent they’re passionate about what they do. E-J seems to give himself to the lyrics, feeling every word as he screams. Sticky-J appears to go to his own world, wavering between crowd provoking and entranced eye rolling. Tom Pain is rage personified. With his stage prowling, predatory glances into the crowd, Slow Mo is by no means slow where it counts. His heavy, impassioned brutality on the drums, and dedication is clear in his performance.
