AFFORDABLE, REPUTABLE BROOKLYN-BASED PROFESSIONAL MASSAGEPATRICIA A. CISARANO L.M.T
NY STATE LICENSED
PATRICIA CISARANO
Patricia Cisarano has been a NYS licensed Massage Therapist for many years.
She’s working in gyms, spas, salons, health clubs, and chiropractors offices. She has maintained a private practice and has taught workshops in Basic Body Massage at the New York Open Center for about 20 years, as well as at various other locations in school, hospitals, facilities of all types, in her own studio. She’s made several NYC TV appearances to demonstrate the importance of massage.
Patricia began to teach when she was still in massage school. She found that she had the “knack” for it. She signed up to teach a course for the Apple Learning Center, the precursor of the all the Learning Annex type services that abound on our streets today. In the mid-80’s, she was invited to Omega institute to teach massage with Jeff Levine for their first summer at the Rhinbeck site. The following fall, she was asked by Omega’s programming director, Ralph White, to join him in a new venture. That was the opening of the NY Open Center, where she taught Basic Body Massage for over 20 years. Pat also taught Vocal Performance and Self Massage Workshops at the center.
To quote Patricia “When I started to work with massage,it was a different world. Upon telling someone that I worked as a Massage Therapist, more often than not, in response I'd get a sideways glance, or some kind of seedy chuckle. My private clients, often women concerned with skin care, had inherited the habit of receiving massage from their mothers. They often had their own massage tables, which made doing house calls easier. Some of these ladies were wonderful, but the majority treated the "masseuse" with that certain attitude that can only be attributed to "the help." Sort of rude, but not really. You're just not there. You're...the help. I worked at places like Georgette Klinger, The Pierre Hotel, many health clubs. The money was good, but I wanted to be free to do what I thought was best for my clients. . In certain chiropractors practices, it was clear that some patients gained more relief from 25 minutes of massage than any of the machines that had been visited on their aching necks and backs.
After many years, I saw a shift. People are finally coming to realize the value of massage
After many years, but I saw the shift in attitude
We need more understanding of the benefits of massage treatment in hospitals, post-op, on a huge scale. Insurance support is key. Massage maintainece should not be thought of as luxury."
Her licensing is in Swedish Massage, one of the most pleasant forms of massage, but her knowledge is not limited to Swedish. After practicing and studying for so long, she’s incorporated techniques from many modalities into the work, as do most good massage therapists.
Isn’t it time you gave yourself the care you deserve?

They are aimed at the everyday folks who would like to add the skill of basic massage to their lives. Although I'm a licensed professional, these classes are not accredited and will not advance the student toward toward licensing. My attitude is that massage is a basic instinct, and can be perfected into a skill. Massage should be available to anyone with an honest desire to learn it. It is an invaluable tool of communication, comfort, and /or pleasure. I teach workshops or private classes. Contact me if interested.
