MASSHOLIA
It’s November 2004 and John F. Kerry, junior Senator from Massachusetts, has just conceded the presidency to George W. Bush. Devastated by the loss and the prospect of four more years of Bush’s questionable “strategery,” the people of Massachusetts take matters into their own hands, seceding from the Union to create a sovereign nation: Massholia. John Kerry becomes the president of this breakaway country, with Representative Barney Frank his second in command. During Massholia’s opening number, we meet the many eccentric “Massholes” who make up this new country. We follow the journey of Robbie Cordeiro in this Rock' n' Roll musical adventure about unrequited love, diehard Red Sox fans, disgruntled pilgrims, misguided Duck Tours, conniving Salem Witches, John Kerry Jr., a magical turkey, & tons of misunderstood Massholes.................................................................................................................................................................................................................“Like the Boston version of West-side story…Bostonist must ask, ‘Why not bring Massholia to the massholes of our fair city’?”
-Bostonist...................................................................................................................................................................................................................“Sprawling…laugh out loud funny…Massholia is like those fictional countries (Freedonia, Klopstokia) in zany Hollywood comedies of the 1930’s where none of the conventional rules apply…Katie Workum’s choreography is clever…Catchy, droll musical numbers composed by Brett Warwick and arranged by Brandon Sturiale…A wicked Pissah.”
-Time out New York......................................................................................................................................................................................................................... “Brett Warwick’s songs range from good to outright catchy and are far superior to those in several Broadway shows one could name,” Lauren Snyder,Off-Off Online.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................“Massholia is a clever musical…the characters are extremely enjoyable to watch…Massholia’s cast is talented and each actor has great comic ability…Nathan Phillips’ hip-hop backup dance moves are hilarious.”
Le migliori canzoni sono “Mass Pike,” “The Witches of Salem", e “Wonderful Life". Prodotto dalle giovani Melanie Sylvan e Brenna Thomas.
