MASSIMO SEX D'ELECTRO 'BERLIN HUSTLER' EP (Electrobot Records), REVIEW IN JAYCULTURE.COM:
Dopo il francese Danton Eeprom e il norvegese Tetsuo la berlinese Electrobot
spinge fuori il disco di Massimo Sex D'Electro. L'italiano (ma ormai
tedesco d'adozione) decide di apparire sulla sua label con un mini-album
fatto di un'electro music rivolta essenzialmente al dancefloor grazie ad una
configurazione che non perde (quasi mai) di vista i canonici 4/4 che nei clubs
sono sempre indispensabili. Ideale per saziare la fame delle menti robotiche
europee, "Berlin Hustler" incarna perfettamente l'idea che Massimo ha
dell'electro-music: una forma d'onda sinuosa che s'infiltra in molteplici stili
(dal dirty al retro) rompendo la monotonia e tagliando le prevedibilità. Con
"Italectron" (forgiata assieme al già citato Eeprom) si tirano in ballo
frequenze digitali, tagli robotici ed ambientazioni cyber mentre con "Sex On
The Floor" si scorge una techno più dura, sporca e scura (quasi
anglosassone) nella quale s'innestano presenze retro prodotte in modo
analogico. Vena più acustica è quella di "Neu" (ancora prodotta col francese
Danton) che rammenta un pò il primo Vitalic mentre con "New Force"
s'imbocca la via dell'electro seminale, psicotica, dall'incedere hypno e dai
rimandi al glorioso Emmanuel Top (chi ricorda "Acid Phase" ?). Movimenti
sequenziali poi si rincorrono anche in "Methamorphium" segmentata su suoni
striduli che portano verso l'ebm degli anni '80. A chiudere il sipario è "Break
The Rules" con la quale ci si rituffa nell'old-school, in quel periodo in cui
l'electro andava a braccetto con l'hip-hop. Multistilistico questo Massimo Sex
D'Electro, factotum della scena berlinese (è dj, producer ed organizzatore di
serate al Maria che durante il 2005 l'hanno visto on stage assieme ad artisti
del calibro di Anthony Rother, Alexander Robotnick, Psychonauts, Legowelt e
Wolfgang Flür del Kraftwerk) capace di forgiare un ottimo disco. Pure positive
energy.
A professional with deep industry ties and a long list of accomplishments, Massimo Sex D'Electro remains an amateur in the literal sense of the word. Where others might settle into a single speciality, the Berlin-based Artist is the founder of the successful Electrobot Records label, a talented musician, a Live-Act, a DeeJay, a Promoter and a well-known radio personality.
In 2002 Electrobot Records was founded as a platform for the Artists and Friends around Massimo. It took one year till the first records were sold in the shops and the impact on the electronic music world was massive.
Motivated by the simple desire to share music with the widest audience possible, a move from the DJ booth to the broadcasters cabin of TwenFM Berlin was a logical extension and in 2004 Massimo launched his first weekly Radioshow Electricity on Air in Berlin.
Upon launching the BERLIN.sELEKTRO.TECHNIK eventseries in the club Maria in Berlin in January 2005 where he is regularly presenting both Electrobot label artists and an array of international top acts like Anthony Rother, Wolfgang Flür (ex-Kraftwerk), Legowelt, Billy Nasty, Alexander Robotnik to name a few.
But it's undoubtedly Electrobot Records that has introduced Massimo to a truly worldwide audience. Despite the label's short history so far, its innovative productions which follow Massimo's lead by combining Electro, Italo and EBM influences with a deep sense for Dancefloor-grooves attracted the attention of clubbers and curious listeners from all over the world.
Electrobot's buzz quickly catapulted from local word-of-mouth and online enthusiasm to attract the attention of international top-acts like DJ Hell, Tiga and Anthony Rother to name a few.
With ears trained through years of DJ experience, Massimo has turned his abilities as a selector towards discovering fresh, innovative talents...
In Example the producer Danton Eeprom was first discovered, signed and released by Massimo on his label Electrobot Records.
His current Electrobot signings are just the start of what we can expect from Massimos development of Electrobot Records as the platform for a new generation of musical talent.
