A Death/Grind project named MASSIVE CARNAGE which at first only consisted of one member, Nelson, due to the fact that other musicians with the same musical interest and capacity were deemed difficult to find near his home town. Nonetheless, he was not deterred in his goal to succeed on his own. Therefore, he began writing songs at home in the hope of eventually coming in contact with someone else to share his vision. As time passed on, it seemed a task he would have to face on his own. So, after a few months of writing every part, from the drums down to the vocals, he spent about 3 months recording. The result is an aggressive vision of death/grind made with meticulous detail and sincere (sick) pleasure...
MASSIVE CARNAGE's demo was released as a CD-r on February 26, 1999 with the title of MURDER. It consists of 5 tracks of unrelentless and sheer brutality. The lyrics center around a psychopath's twisted vision and his all consuming and macabre impulsions.
The demo received some good reviews and encouraged Nelson to continue with the project with hopes of further releases and maybe one day live performances. The recording brought him into contact with many people in the metal underground and soon he met another guitarist who would fit in perfectly with the project. Accepting Nelson's invitation, Paulo Alexandre (ex-Soulless (Prt) ; ex-Malevolence (Prt)) joined in the massacre as second guitarist... Soon after, Paulo Santos, joined Paulo Alexandre and Nelson and MASSIVE CARNAGE was well on their way to achieving their objective: live performances.
Not long after, Telmo begun growling ferociously with them, until he moved to the States and left the band once again without a singer. For a short while, a bass player, Nuno Serrada, entered the band however, due to professional reasons he wasn't able to remain as a permanent member.
Meanwhile, Nelson, Paulo A., and Paulo S. persisted and practiced continuously with their objectives clear: to record in the year 2000 and to play live... in Portugal and if possible around the world!
Telmo returned to the band after having returned to Portugal, and coincidentally, Nuno Serrada has once again took up the task of bass player. With this new solid line-up MASSIVE CARNAGE began their preparation to take over the world!
Unfortunately, things were still not completely on their way, and Telmo Ferreira abandoned the band without due notice. Their first concert was to be canceled and recording in the studio was left unfinished.
Luckily, this time the band was able to find a competent replacement in Hugo Espada. With Hugo's motivation and professionalism the band has progressed considerably having finally played live and recorded two promotional tracks featured on the PREPARED FOR WAR CD-r,released in 2000.
