Massive Selector's Interests
|
| General | Massive Selector is a San Francisco based collective of artists, djs, free thinkers, and corporate refugees who share a passion for art and music culture. Through our event production, media projects, and design we motivate, build and cultivate a left coast
community. We are selectors for the masses.
Basically we started as a group of friends from Berkeley, SF State, Academy of Art, and CCAC, throwing parties in SF and LA. The venture grew into a business that let us explore our creativity and passions.
Our projects: some for fun, some for profit... all for the love. The most visible are the events... but our crew is involved in a lot of different things... art, music, fashion, web design, architecture, engineering and even entrepreneurship.

maaaan, it's been a minute since i dropped some music picks but there's so much good music out there right now, that it's time to share... listen to my new imeem playlist HERE to check out the tracks i'm feelin at the moment...
1. Carlos Nino & Miguel Atwood-Ferguson "Find A Way" LA musician Carlos Nino is back with another orchestration of a classic J. Dilla track - this time A Tribe Called Quest's "Find A Way". Nino and Atwood-Ferguson lead a band of musicians into a cinematic rendition of the classic Dilla produced track. Check the build up around the 3 minute mark... whoooo. big ups to andrew lojero for sharing this track, and daps to hakobo for telling me to listen to it, lol.
2. Erykah Badu "Honey (Moody Boyz Remix)" Ms. Badu's latest album is just the shit. everytime i hear Master/Teacher into The Hump into Telephone, it just hits me right THURRR... but check out this version of "Honey" that gets a dub step rub down by the UK's moody boyz... oh so sweet.
3. Green Tea "Sunshowers (Green Tea Remix)" Green Tea turns this mellow favorite into a bonifide dancefloor burner! complete with extended breaks for the dancers, and those sweet vocals lay perfectly over this uptempo track... this joint is gonna be heating dancefloors all summer long!
4. Yosaku "Ain't It Funky" the ubiquitous Yosaku takes on the difficult task of remixing one of James Brown's biggest hits, and delivers! this dudes ability to update a hard funk anthem into a now-sound heater is pretty mind blowing... this joint is gonna be featured on GAMM's upcoming "Doin James" James Brown tribute compilation. Ain't It Funky never sounded so FONKY.
5. Jackson Conti "Sao Paulo Nights" did you know madlib loves brazil? so much so that he linked up with the drummer Mamao of legendary brazilian outfit Azymuth to form Jackson Conti. check out this beautiful track off their latest album Sujinho...
6. Shawty Lo "They Know (Million $ Mano Remix)" bmore madness. bangin. shout out to jesse and the dub frequency crew for lacing me with this joint... oh, and check out their VIDEO too while you're at it.
7. Outkast "Royal Flush feat. Raekwon" the 2 dope boys are back and taking it back to the roots as they team up with Reakwon on this track that's reminiscent of their early work... this is some grimy southernplayalistic type ish!
8. Chez Damier "In & Out (Daz-I-Kue Remix)" lovin Daz's future boogie version of this crowd pleaser... can somebody say 80's throwback?
9. Karizma aka Kaytronic "33rd Street Anthem" techy new joint from Karizma that just smacks you in the face like he was your daddy... you know you like it.
10. Loose Ends "Hanging On A String" speaking of throwbacks, here's an r&b classic from 1984... and still sounds so fresh and so clean, peep the VIDEO and take some fashion tips, lol. |

Upper Playground and SonicLiving have joined forces to change the face of Friday nights, as well as the face of sonicliving.com. Upper Playground is now heading the art direction for the default concert posters on SonicLiving's site, giving the musicians that post events some serious visual weight behind their show's listing. To celebrate this new pairing, Upper Playground and SonicLiving are hosting a monthly happy hour party, on the first Fridays of every month. The resident DJ's are Amplive (Zion-I) and THE Tourist (Magnificent 7). There will also be a guest DJ each month and for June's event, we are proud to have none other than DJ Proof (Massive Selector). UPPER PLAYGROUND & SONICLIVING WILL BE BUYING THE BEER (Trumer Pils and Shiner Commemorator are on our tab until 7pm) + there will be great drink specials and surprise giveaways (concert tickets, clothing and more..), so you will absolutely not want to miss it.
