I MASS OBLITERATION sono una death metal band e nascono a Roma nell’aprile 2006 da un’idea dei cugini Andrea e Luca, che si spostano da Gaeta (LT), loro paese natale (tra l’altro luogo d’origine anche della famiglia Cavalera dei fratelli Sepultura),nella capitale, delusi dai loro progetti passati, con l’intento di creare musica estrema ed originale. Con l’ingresso nella formazione di Mariano la band lavora fin da subito su proprie composizioni e nell’agosto 2007 pubblica un ep autoprodotto, “Abrahamithic Curse”, registrato da Emilio Trillò (Carnal Rapture), che ottiene decine di recensioni in Italia e in tutto il mondo. Il cd viene successivamente messo a disposizione gratis sulla rete, raggiungendo diverse centinaia di download. Diversi concerti a Roma e in giro per l’Italia contribuiscono ulteriormente alla diffusione del nome della band e del suo feroce death metal, unico e dal sapore old-school.
All’inizio del 2008 i tre accolgono nella formazione Giordano, proveniente dalla band locale Compulsion.
Il sound, già estremamente marcio e vario sul debutto, si arricchisce di nuove e violente sfumature con l’aggiunta di una seconda voce e una seconda chitarra.
I testi, come la band ha scelto sin dall’inizio, affrontano una tematica particolare, in questo caso sono una piena ed esplicita accusa della guerra, e in particolare dei conflitti civili (mentre “Abrahamithic Curse” si focalizzava sui sistemi religiosi), usando riferimenti filosofici e rimanendo connessi alla rabbia contro ogni tipo d’autorità (politica, economica e religiosa) che è sempre stata (è sarà) nell’attitudine lirica della band.
Nel gennaio 2009 le nuove composizioni vengono immortalate sul demo “Fratricide”, registrato nei rinomati 16th cellar studios di Stefano Morabito (Eyeconoclast, Hour of penance).
In questo momento la band è in cerca di concerti in tutta Europa e di una collaborazione con un’etichetta discografica, in vista della pubblicazione di un album intero per la fine dell’anno

MASS OBLITERATION are an Italian death metal band, born in Rome during april 2006 from the cousins Andrea and Luca, who moved from their hometown Gaeta (where the Cavalera brothers from Sepultura have their origin too) to the capital, deluded by their past projects, aiming to create extreme and original music. After Mariano entered the line-up the band immediately starts working on their own material and, in the august 2007, releases a self-produced ep, “Abrahamithic Curse”, recorded by Emilio Trillò (Carnal Rapture), which gets many reviews in Italy and all over the world. Afterwards the cd in posted for free on internet, reaching several hundreds downloads.
Many shows in Rome and around Italy help spreading the word about the band’s name and its fierce, old-school smelling unique metal of death.
At the beginning of 2008 the three welcome in the line-up Giordano, from the local band Compulsion. The sound, yet extremely rotten and various on the debut, grows rich with new and violent shades with the adding of a second guitar and voice.
The lyrics, as the band chose from its beginning, are a representation of a certain matter, in this case are a full and explicit charge of war and, in particular civil conflicts (as “Abrahamithic Curse” focused on the religious systems), using philosophical references and being connected to the rage against every authority (political, economic or religious) that has always been (and will be) in the lyrical vein of the band.
In January 2009 the new compositions get immortalized on the new demo “Fratricide”, recorded in the renowed 16th cellar studios with the producer Stefano Morabito (Eyeconoclast, Hour of penance)
In this moment the band is looking forward for European shows and for a collaboration with a record label, maybe for a full-length.
