MATATERO nace en Octubre de 2006, inicialmente como una colaboración, conformado por Roberto "Boby-B" Amaya , Manuel "Pi Selekta" Merino y Pedro "Dros-I" Alfaro. Con una mentalidad afín surge la necesidad de encontrar un medio de expresión musical novedoso, inmediato y directo. Después de trabajar paralelamente en proyectos como Chuchuefinca, Los Tachos y Adhesivo, despierta la inquietud de explorar una faceta de la música reggae a la que no se había aventurado nadie en El Salvador. Es por esto que se experimenta con un formato distinto; que proyecte las ideas de cada uno directamente; que se adapte a diversas configuraciones; que permita toda libertad lírica y musical; y que no dependa de cuantiosos miembros que conforman una banda. Con “riddims” propios del reggae roots, ragga y dancehall, mezclados con baterías y sonidos sintetizados, con letras comprometidas, mensajes directos y dinámicos; MATATERO se presenta como una expresión de la juventud guanaca, que ha acogido al reggae como filosofía de vida. Como esa semilla que se siembra, hecha raíces y ahora crece día a día; MATATERO espera cosechar conciencia en cada una de nuestras mentes. ***************************************************************
Matatero is born in October of 2006; conformed initially by Robert "Boby-B" Amaya, Manuel "Pi Selekta" Merino and with the incorporation of "Dros", arises from the necessity to find new ways of immediate and direct musical expression . After the successful participation with the first band of reggae of El Salvador, and the parallel work with projects like Chuchuefinca, Adhesivo and a new band of reggae, the inmminent necessity to have voice and presence at the national scenaries is a must . That..s why the band looks for a format that adapts to diverse configurations and that do not depend on a band formally so: this is the Sound System. With own rythmical bases and riddims of the Roots, ragga and dancehall mixed with batteries and synthesized sounds, with compromised lyrics, direct and dynamic messages, Matatero appears like an expression of the guanaco's youth, that has welcomed in reggae like life philosophy, like that seed that was seeded, fact roots and now day to day grows hoping to be able to harvest the fruits of real changes that all we want. At the moment Matatero Sound System is recording 9 ttracks, all original ones, at Skeleto Latin Trip Record.
