Bluesy/Jazzy/Eclectic Acoustic Duo
The love of making music was that special something that originally brought
Mataya and Gill into each others lives! Mataya was a singer/songwriter, writing
a variety of styles that included todays Country, Blues, Pop/Rock and R&B. She
was writing & performing in the Carolinas, when she met Gill, a recording
engineer and music composer! Soon Mataya & Gill began writing songs together, it
was love at first write.
Today, years later, Mataya is known as both a Singer/Songwriter creating music with her husband Gill and a published Fine Arts Artist (view her art at www.yessy.com/Mataya13).
Music is still a main focus and together
they play both Coooool Covers and Originals in their Bluesy/Jazzy style

performs at a variety of venues and events, which keeps things interesting! Some
preferred venues are, Country Clubs, Up Scale Restaurants, Wine & Coffee Houses and Acoustic Listening Rooms.
Special events such as, House Concerts, Festivals, Wine Tastings, Art Exhibit
Openings, Wedding Ceremonies, Rehearsal Dinners, Christmas/New Years and
Corporate Events are always fun and lets not forget campfires in the woods
with friends !

Mataya-Gill & Guitar are a bluesy acoustic duo playing originals and some favorite covers. Mataya is a singer/songwriter with a blues attitude and sultry vocal style. Gill Vanderlip is a composer and a producer/engineer in his recording studio. His guitar style reflects his love of rock, blues and a few jazzy chords here and there. He is also Mataya's co-writer on occasion.
Mataya's lyrics tend to explore male-female relationships from a strong, independent perspective. She doesn't back off from tough issues. Mataya doesn't write many love songs, but she says one "sneaks through" on occasion.
Mataya was the founder and guiding spirit of The Naked Truth songwriter showcase and open mic for approximately 5 years. This event was a premier showcase usually featuring 3 Regional and / or National touring singer/songwriters, joined in the round by 1 local artist. The Evening Muse listening room in Charlotte, N.C. was the home base.
Mataya is well known as a long time Animal Rescue Advocate and a Fine Arts Artist creating Traditional Realism Paintings of Nature & Animals, N.C. Blue Ridge Scenes & Hot Air Balloons.
