I was born April 3, 1972 in San Francisco, California. I grew up in the Bay Area where I took to music at a young age, composing for and leading my own group by age 12. As a teenager, I studied piano, improvisation and songwriting with Gary Marks before attending the University of California at Berkeley. While at Berkeley, I studied with Ghanean Master Drummer CK Ladzekpo. This experience had a profound impact on my musical conception and helped lay the foundation for my rhythmic approach to music. At that time, I also began studying Afro-Cuban music and Jazz. I live with my beautiful wife and two sons in the Philadelphia area where I continue to study music, teach piano and perform with various ensembles including my own group.

HOLY COW! You missed quite an "interesting" gig with Ellas. It was outdoors, and there were beds there under tents to rent for the evening...bikini tops, and mini skirts, lol. I've never seen anything like it!
