Right now, there is the Rose Hudson trio/quartet---depending on the venue...which includes most time, Mark Huber ..s, Dominic Iacavone on sax/piano, Dave Santana on drums, Paul Colombo on guitar and/or Scott Nelson on guitar......within the next few months the second band I have the great pleasure of performing with will be Rose Hudson and Chaz, members include: Chuck Whiteman on sax and vocals, Paul Colombo on guitar and vocals, Tom Lowry ..s and vocals, John McGovern on bass, John DiGiovanni on drums and of course me on vocals.
I am also part of the cast with Illustrated Blues Production called, "The Tear Jar". I play the role of Chandra, along with some other dynamic performers : Diane Wilson, Don Johnson, Jared James Nichols, Eugene Barclift, Charles Lee, Erin Cruise, and Samira Randolph. So far we have had four fantastic shows and we are hoping we get a chance to get this show on the road and possibly get a chance to perform this show on Broadway....here's to keeping our fingers crossed.
Influences
Well I can say for sure that I have some deep rooted latin influences, but all of my mother's albums are in Spanish, and she didn't teach me any spanish....ha...well, I grew up also listening to Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, Carly Simon, Roberta Flack, Arethra Franklin, Billie Holiday, Anita Baker, Dionne Warwick, Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan, Pat Benatar, Tonya Browne of Queen Bee and the Blue Hornet Band, Eva Cassidy, Karen Carpenter, Godspell the movie soundtrack, Lynne Thigpen, Sade, Tanita Gaines, Sharrie Williams, Carlos Santana, The Neville Brothers, Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gents, Professor Longhair, Luther Allison, Henning Verner, Kenn Lending, Earth Wind and Fire, Ohio Players, The Gap Band, Cameo, Player, Ambrosia, The Brothers Gibb (Bee Gees), Linda Rondstadt, Barbara Streisand, Donna Summer, Nicolette Larsen, Natalie Merchant, Atlantic Starr, Stephanie Mills, Teddy Pendergrass, KRS ONE, Bone Thugs and Harmony, Journey, Jefferson Airplane, Marva Wright, Charmaine Neville, John Autin, Anthony Hamilton, The Tony Rich Project, Steely Dan, Bonnie Raitt, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Floetry, Kirk Whalum, Kenny Dorsey, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and soooo many others...
I can't ever remember a time in my life when I didn't listen to music or try to sing along with the songs on the radio. There was always some type of music played in my house, whether it was James Brown or Aretha Franklin, my mother's love for latin music was also a huge influence on me, my mother is from Puerto Rico, so spanish food and spanish music was always mainstay. Never had any formal training in music, however I attended a Catholic school, and the school and church were just feet away from each other, it seems that we were always in church singing for one function or another, I developed a love for choral music and opera while in high school, and used to dream of someday becoming an opera singer. I joined my first band, named Sunburst wihile in high school. Sunburst was a unique band, the members of the band, were a bit "peculiar" in nature. While most bands played danceable music, Sunburst preferred to bring a message to their music. After performing with Sunburst, I started a family, went through my ups and down in marriage, completed nursing school and now, I'm at a place in my life where I can return to my true passion in life which is music.
