The warm weather finds me jet skiing and fishing in my free time...colder weather finds me on the slopes or snowshoeing...hiking anytime!
Music
Country is tops...didn't listen until losing a bet to my Dad as a teenager, then fell in love with it! There's very little music I don't like, though.
Movies
Fun weather ones were the somewhat unrealistic Twister! and the totally unrealistic Day After Tomorrow...a few other favorites: Black Hawk Down, Return of the Jedi, A River Runs Through It, What Dreams May Come.
Television
Is there something else on besides NECN? Maybe a weather special on the Discovery Channel or National Geographic TV? :) My schedule puts me in bed before most prime time TV shows, but a couple of my favorites are 24 and CSI Miami.
Books
The Old Farmers Almanac (a new version every year!), Mesoscale Meteorology and Forecasting! :) Breakfast at the Victory was a high school assigned book that always stuck with me over this many years...more recently I enjoyed "We've Got it Made In America," too.
Heroes
Tough to answer honestly without being sappy: My parents (how did they put up with me for so long?), my Grandmother (who, in her 80s, successfully battled cancer), and my fiance (who took over the tough role of...putting up with me!). I also have great respect and admiration for the men and women of law enforcement, which is why I wear a Massachusetts State Police pin with an American flag nearly everyday. This pin represents my support for law enforcement agencies across the nation.

About me: As a meteorologist in the mornings and early afternoons on NECN (New England Cable News), I bring a slice of my personality since I figure if you've come to the television or my website to get your weather, you're probably looking for something more than just numbers, so that's what I try to provide. You'll find me having plenty of fun on TV - I love what I do - and I'm always striving to deliver the most comprehensive, informative, analytical and honest forecast you can find. I hope I'll make a positive difference in the world both personally and professionally, and I get out in the community quite a bit in hopes of doing just that. You can check out more on my website at www.mattnoyes.net!
Who I'd like to meet: I'm lucky enough to meet a lot of wonderful folks - some names you'd recognize but the truth is I get some of the most reward from meeting viewers and folks around New England. It's a real thrill to get to know so many people who each have their own story and are "neighbors" I never would have met if not for their friendly hellos either at my public appearances, or just on the street and in the stores!
Well you learned well it was the best coverage that was on TV at a time like that. Not even the weather channel had any specifics..The path of the storm street by street was also fantastic. Doesn't get much better than what you did. It's good to see the sun! :D Have a wonderful weekend and keep up the great work, your the best!
I just wanted to give you kudos on the tornado scare the other day...we stayed with you until the threat had passed. You were the ONLY one giving information, as always a job well done!
Hey Matt! Thanks for the My School Forecast! Your awesome! But what's up with all this rain? It doesn't feel like summer at all. Everytime I want to hang out with my friends its raining.
With the economy the way it is the first to lose the support of the public is our animal friends. With that in mind I have desided to donate 10% of my website's profits from the holiday season to the Westbrook Maine Animal Refuge League.
The Refuge League is the largest of just a handful of animal assistance programs in southern Maine. They countinuly need help making life better for the animals of southern Maine. With a rash of puppy farms being closed down and home owners having to give up their pets as they lose their homes. Now is the time to make a difference for these beautiful creatures.
I have many different products, about 20000, based on my many prints and designs.
Good to have you back from a well deserved vacation! Good to have you back again. Hope you enjoyed it and went somewhere warmer than here. That would have been a nice break!
Wow! Faster than the speed of sound? That's pretty fast. You are the best meteorologist in New England and might even become the best pilot in New England. You're awesome! Hope you have a great weekend also! =)
Hi Matt, I cracked up when I heard the 'agh' and 'yuck' noises in the background (Was it Mike or Scott?) when you put my frog photo up this morning. Then Karen stating she is not a big fan of frogs :)
I guess I shouldn't submit any pictures of the snakes that bask in my yard :P
