Matt Beckler's music does not subscribe to one genre. A folk element lies at the core of his songs, surrounded by myriads of influences, layering the context of each album. As the music ebbs and flows, the listener is drawn steadily through sonic landscapes, subtle and lush. Matt draws his inspiration from many different places - Dylan, the delta blues, ambient noise - yet there is a defining congruency to each project, leading the listener to a new place every time, both lyrically and musically. His unmistakable voice provides a common thread in an outpouring of honest, contemplative, unique songwriting.

Brilliant. SO freaking good. Thanks for all you put into the new album. I have listened to "Favorite Records" and "I fell apart on you" about 15 times each already since Thursday. Really well done man. I hope this is huge for you.
Remember when we used to sit in the house on Rivermont and play each other music from bands that we just got into (mazzy star, innocence mission, etc.)? Well, I thought of you because I was listening to Atherton today and I think they're one of those bands we would have played to death. Kinda like when we played the Sundays version of Wild Horses 58 times trying to get the words just right so you could play it at Percival's. Those were good days my friend. Check out Atherton.
Man... Ryan Jackson! What happened to him? I was just thinking of him the other day. Anyway... my address is 322 Westover Blvd. Lynchburg, VA 24501 And tell me how much $ to send to you - you're not doing this for free my friend!
Matty! How are you??? I need/want some music... tell me how to make a purchase friend. I've got an old song of yours on a mix I play at Meriwether's, so I think of you about once per shift. :)I hope things are wonderful in your life! Oh and get a facebook page already.
Do I see and hear new music from Beckler.... wow, I could finally put new tunes on my own myspace page..... How are you 2? Hopefully delightfully well! Blessings to you both, Brenda
