Not too many artists go from playing 200 seat club dates, literally overnight, to playing to 20,000 audience members at the legendary Los Angeles Staples Center, sharing the stage with country music royalty, Kenney Chesney and LeAnn Rimes. But that's exactly what happened to Oklahoma born and raised Matt Cline. He beat out thousands of acts to win the coveted Chesney-Rimes spot on the 2008 “Poets and Pirates” Tour just in time for the release of his new Album "Tenkiller” on the independent, Boomerang Entertainment label.
Although Cline hails from Oklahoma, the singer songwriter honed his craft and headed to California to write, record, play shows and study music. “I want to know the entire musical universe,” says Cline…”that way I can do whatever I want.”
His new album, with guitars, vocals, and songwriting all handled by Matt, early believers say he straddles the line between country and indie alternative music in a way similar to Keith Urban... "music is music, not a genre" says Matt..."these days there aren't any rules in the record business -- I think that's a healthy thing...especially for songwriters who are no longer restricted to one genre or another."
The new "Tenkiller" album is a nod to Oklahoma's Tenkiller Lake, a Cline family favorite getaway where times are simpler and slower than the industry pace of New York and Los Angeles.
