About me:
Matt Farris, that's me, was born in Grants Pass Oregon where i lived for about a month. I was chosen as a National Finlaist on NASHVILLE STAR season 6. I made it to the first show which was the top 38 out of more than 40,000 people. I have 11 guitars and a drum set, I usually play my original guitar, Jasmine. I participated in many sports; serious about soccer, track, cross country; every other sport you can think of for the experience. Out of the country, I have traveled to Mexico, Hawaii and my personal favorite Australia and New Zealand. I joined Choir in elementary school and went all through school singing. In High School I also joined Drama. I played a pirate in my final play of high school and I am gonna have to say was my favorite part of Drama. After High School i went to work on my Fire Science degree. I passed through EMT courses and then graduated the Glendale Fire Academy in 2006. I moved to Flagstaff for more schooling and joined the Grand Canyon Guitar Society and the Flagstaff Songwriters Club. I am currently back in Phoenix working and singing. My Mom Sandra Schulzkump didn't know many lullabies when I was a baby but she did know country music; she sang Kenny Rogers, Bobby Bare, Tom T.Hall, Waylon and Willie rather than Hush Little Baby. My ear for music came from my father Jeff Farris and his father, Tom Farris. My Dad can hear any music and play it on the Bass. Tom Farris, aka Papa Tom plays the drums. My Grandfather Vern Clayson plays guitar, as did his mother, my Great Grandmother; Lenora Clayson. Even my step-father, Richard Schulzkump, who has been my Dad since I was one, keeps the beat when he is pounding boat propellers at his shop. I got my first toy guitar when I was 2 or 3. My first real guitar was a gift from my mom when I was 12. Since that time almost every member of my family has bought me something to do with music. It's all I wanted for birthdays and Christmas. I have played for people all over AZ in bars and restaurants. I performed at a Motorcycle Rodeo in Havasu. A Vietnam Veteran brought me a bowl of chili after hearing my version of 8th of november. I was especially honored to play and be applauded by these audiences. I love every audience. I live to play my music and meet people. Saturday Nov 14 An Evening With Hot Buttered Rum at the Orpheum. Initially formed as an acoustic string band, seven years of constant touring has transformed Hot Buttered Rum into a plugged-in, percussive powerhouse that wows critics and fans alike. Their left-coast rock reveals an access to jazz, country, and world music that few groups can match. While the band's music belies simple categorization, its songwriting and stage chemistry delights listeners at every turn. Doors at 7, show at 8. All Ages. Tix are only $12 advance/$15 day of.
Tuesday Nov 17 Misfits with Hour of the Wolf, Moonlight Howlers, and Awaken the Nightmare. Misfits are the original horror punk band. Original members Jerry Only and Robo play bass and drums, and guitar is covered by Dez Cadena, originally of Black Flag. Doors at 7, show at 8. Tix are $22 advance/$25 day of.

This Saturday night we are throwing a Halloween Party at the Orpheum with Yin Yang and Zen Some. Sedona superfreaks Yin Yang and Zen Some know how to throw a party. Its actually impossible to convince them not to dress up in costumes during the 364 days of the year that are not Halloween. That's why we thought that they would be a particularly appropriate band to play Halloween. YYZS plays a an eclectic mix of music, focusing on 80s songs that don't suck (think New Wave, Talking Heads, etc...). So put on your freakiest outfit and come down to the Orpheum to dance. Bwahahahahaha!
The show is all ages, ONLY $5, and starts at 9pm.

Hello!
Flagstaff favorites Telescope will be at the Orpheum Theater with special guests Ryanhood on Friday August 28th at 9pm. This show is all ages. Telescope released its first album, "For the Rest of Us" through its indie label Skyrocket Entertainment in 2007. The album met with great success and 7500 hard copies - 4000 downloads later it was time to record more music. The band released the EP, “Wind It Up” in February of 2009, this time to a packed Orpheum Theater in Flagstaff, AZ. The first single, "I'll Drive Tonight" went to #24 on the FMQB Charts in March, a huge accomplishment for an independent band. Telescope's live show and songwriting have catapulted them to the forefront of the Arizona scene.
Telescope will also be at Martini Ranch in Scottsdale on Saturday August 29th at 9pm.
