Also in 2004, Matt signed a distribution contract with One Stop Entertainment, who now distributes his album around Australia and New Zealand. The 2005 Tamworth CM Festival confirmed Matt..s popularity with him once again performing to packed venues, & much to Matt..s delight, the audiences knew the words and sang along when he performed original tracks from his album!
Over the years Matt..s musical influences have included Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Diamond Rio, Brad Paisley, Travis Tritt & Colin Raye just to name a few.
Matt has proven time and again to be a dynamic vocalist & musician with the remarkable ability to keep audiences captivated and entertained for the duration of his performance. This ability coupled with his vibrant & friendly personality has ensured that Matt has a growing legion of loyal fans wherever he performs.
Through his song writing skills Matt ..connects.. with his audience & can evoke a tear, laughter or even personal introspection from them. His wonderful, emotive lyrics have the power to take each audience member along with him on the journey through each song. The many requests for him to sing more of ..his.. songs during a performance are proof that they enjoy the journey.
Just prior to the 2004 Tamworth Festival Matt felt exceptionally privileged when he was invited to participate in the Cavalcade of Stars by riding on the R.M. Williams ute, which was accompanied by the Australian Stock Horse Association, Northern Division, riders. This was repeated in 2005, 2006 and again in 2007 and has become a regular feature of Matts Tamworth Festival appearances, which is set to continue, as Matt has already been rebooked for the 2008 festival.
Due to being diagnosed with cancer in 2005, at the age of 30 years, it was necessary for Matt to take time out from his career to concentrate on his recovery. His illness did not however prevent him from fulfilling his commitments to perform during the 2006 Tamworth Festival where, once again, his audiences packed the venues. Now with the cancer in remission Matt is eagerly looking forward to performing fulltime again.
Now with his health restored, a new album due later this year, Matt is eagerly making plans for a future that is looking very bright, exciting and successful.
