Matthew's Interests
|
| General | Mostly writing and theater, though I'm also a big fan of movies and TV | | Music | Listening to a lot of the following lately - Christopher Dallman, They Might Be Giants, Glenn Shope, The Mountain Goats, Aimee Mann, Warren Zevon, Shawn Colvin, Jackson Browne, Suzanne Vega, Bruce Springsteen, Mary-Chapin Carpenter, James Taylor, Ben Folds Five, Sting, Lyle Lovett - I look to song lyrics for writing inspiration a lot, so singer-songwriter types tend to float to the top. | | Movies | Favorite movie - Casablanca - Movies I'm fond of lately - Brokeback Mountain, Latter Days, The Broken Hearts Club - I'm kind of a Netflix addict so it changes with the tide, but all of the above are in my permanent collection - along with any movie that has Cyrille Thouvenin in it (I just wish he'd make better movies, I feel kind of guilty owning them just because he's talented and pretty) | | Television | Addicted to dramas that end up being short-lived, unfortunately - anything from the house of Herskovitz and Zwick (Once and Again, My So-Called Life, Relativity, thirtysomething, etc.) - Queer As Folk (the British version is amazing, the American got better toward the end but it was a LONG wait) - Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Everwood - OK, let's see, something currently actually on the air - The Amazing Race, Battlestar Galactica | | Books | anything by Michael Cunningham (Flesh & Blood, The Hours, A Home At The End of the World, etc.), Gabriel Garcia Marquez (One Hundred Years of Solitude), the poetry of e.e. cummings and W.H. Auden - I really need to read more. I miss it. I always end up writing instead. Favorite plays, in no particular order, would be - Shakespeare's As You Like It and Twelfth Night, Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard and Uncle Vanya, John Guare's Landscape of the Body and Six Degrees of Separation, Tony Kushner's Angels In America (both parts, though I'm a little more partial to part two), and William Finn's Falsettos | | Heroes | Hmmm... outside my immediate and extended family and friends? That's a really good question. I'll have to ponder that some...

About me:
************************************************************
I've been lax about putting anything here, mostly because I already have a website - www.matthewaeverett.com, where the bulk of my stuff lives - scenes and monologues from plays, screenplays and TV scripts I write, blog entries, bio, resume, pictures, the usual. I spend the lion's share of my online time there. So if you're really curious, check that out for more info. I'll also try linking there through blog entries here, just to make things easier.

Who I'd like to meet:
Any and all folks who are going to be part of the Minnesota Fringe Festival this summer - both locals and visitors.
But I don't get out enough as it is (working two day jobs, you know how that goes), so I'd be open to chatting with whoever.
