Matthew and the Atlas is the creation of Matt Hegarty. Mixing guitars and banjo with a graveling, emotive voice, he's had the good fortune to play with acts such as Mumford and Sons, Alessi's Ark, Nina Nastasia, JJ Burnel (The Stranglers), The Travelling Band and Martin Harley. His recently completed Scavengers EP combines guitar, piano, banjo, slide, harmonica, percussion and layered vocals.
" Matthew and the Atlas is the brilliant invention of Matt Hegarty who supported Mumford and Sons on our last UK tour in Reading. All of us and the remainder of the audience were awestruck by his voice, his lyrics, his vibe. Like a UK cross between Bon Iver and Ray Lamontagne. " Communion
" A blustering deep graveling voice booming over acute raw exposed wounds of songs. Brooding, moving and intense. " eARmusic
