Just me as of yet... but if you're a vocalist, cellist or a percussionist who loves to make gentle music, that is definitely subject to change.

Sounds Like
some strange amalgamation of...
Damien Rice
David Wilcox
Teitur
Bright Eyes
Glen Hansard
Ray Lamontagne...
...but (given a few folky hang-ups) mostly unique.
Should this section be written in the third person, in the name of professionalism? Or should it be just be honest and unpretentious...? '
Because yeah, it's just me writing this.
99.9% of my music is inspired by metaphor, by the feeling that everything is connected. Writing lyrics, for me, is like following the stitches on a baseball. No, I don't spend much of my time doing exactly that; allow me the illustration. At first glance, it's not apparent that the stitches connect at all, but as you follow them, you begin to get that feeling of "I think I've been here before". Not in a ho-hum, disenchanting sort of way, but in a way that feels like coming home - all within an idea. And if that one idea should happen to be True (that is, free of denial, pretense, or prejudiced hyperbole) it hovers at the port of eternity, waiting to take you deeper into the sphere of that which is Universally True.
If I just totally lost you, I apologize. I promise never to sacrifice our relationship for my insatiable pursuit of deeper awareness. If you're totally tracking with me, well, cool... we should hang out more. : )
I love beautiful music. I hope you're encouraged by mine.
Thanks,
matthew

“All communities divide themselves into the few and the many. The first are the rich and wellborn, the other the mass of the people. The voice of the people has been said to be the voice of God; and however generally this maxim has been quoted and believed, it is not true in fact. The people are turbulent and changing; they seldom judge or determine right. Give therefore to the first class a distinct, permanent share in the government…. Can a democratic assembly, who annually revolve in the mass of the people, be supposed steadily to pursue the public good? Nothing but a permanent body can check the imprudence of democracy.”
~Alexander Hamilton
For faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of what is not seen.
hey man this is Brandon Whitford, I am a friend of Maddi's from san angelo that you met a while back, like a year and a half ago now, haha. I just ran across your profile man, and just wanted to tell ya it sounds awesome. Keep it up, i really dig it. I know i hate it when people say they like my music followed by "it sounds like" but i mean this as the highest of complements. The sytle of music you create and the realness/rawness of your metaphors....here it goes... remind me of Owen. Im sure you have heard of him, if not check him out. Anyway, awesome.
