About Matthew
Matthew is a young and inspired photographer. He started his photography life sometime in the late year of 2006. Starting with nature and outdoor photography Matthew has grown into the hobby very much. He soon made a Deviant Art account and posted his photography on his account. After some time, he notied that his work had caught the eyes of many throughout Deviant Art. Soon after that, Matt got into the local scene. He started going to local shows at The Space in Hamden and at the Point Beach Clubhouse in Milford. He also started a band in which he was the drummer. Through all of this he still kept his main interest in photography. After doing a few shows with his band, Matt really got into the local music scene. He started to go to shows a lot in mid-2007 all around Connecticut. He soon noticed that a few kids would take pictures of the bands as they play through their sets. He thought that this would be a great way to get to more shows and meet more bands. He soon met Tom Brill, a band photographer. They started talking to each other and Tom gave Matt various amounts of tips and tricks in taking pictures at shows.
Matt got his first camera, a $550 Nikon D40, in late March of 2007, which he bought with his own money. Soon after that in later March he started heading to The Space in Hamden to take pictures of bands. He was very unsure of what to do and very shy as to go up to the front of the venue to take his photos. After sending his photos to the bands, Matt noticed that they very much liked his work. He was quite surprised.
This young photographer started going to more and more local venues to see bands play. After about a month or two, Matt got the hang of taking pictures for the bands. His photos soon ended up on many of the band's webpages (Myspace). He soon had the chances to meet many local, yet semi-famous, bands and he seized those chances right away. He met many bands such as Armor For The Broken, Riased By Falcons, The Flaming Tsunamis, Raised By Falcons, Years Spent Cold, and many more through his work of photography.
Matthew plans to keep on going to shows throughout his whole life and to one day meet a few famous bands and to be able to take pictures for them as well. He also plans to hang on to his hobby of photography. He hopes that one day he will make it big and travel across the U.S.

Hey man! I've seen you at many shows in the past getting moshed to death while snapping photos and you have great photography. We'd love to see your photos of last night. -Marc L.
mmm, my D70 has been very faithful to me. I'll be getting a cannon xt soon. from personal experience, I think that it is the best camera to use for action shots and I'm hoping I can get better results from live photoshoots for bands and sports. I think the Nikon is better for promos and such.
