Matthew Dekay as both an artiste and a person is a cultural connoisseur. His journey has seen him perform at clubs and festivals on a global scale (think Love Parade Berlin, Amnesia Ibiza and Pacha Buenos Aires) and racking up fans every step of the way. The music media are included in that quota too - BBC Radio 1 hosted an Essential Mix by Matthew and from there, DJ Mag started writing regular updates in its pages of Matthew's blossoming career - including a cover feature and a covermount CD mixed by Matthew to celebrate his signing to management label, ie:music. The same company to take Robbie Williams under their wing in his early days and project him into the pop stratosphere, recognised Matthew's pioneering qualities and penned a deal with him straight away. From there, Matthew was headhunted by Becks Beer to remix fellow ie:music signing, Ladyhawke, as a part of their Music Inspired By Art Project and Matthew re-worked a track for Apple iTouch advert darlings, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour.
Now at the age of 31, Matthew continues to succumb to his roaming instincts which have seen him set up bases in the two creative capitals of the world, New York and Berlin. Here, Matthew has set up a brand new label, Musik Boutique, and set off on a project, Boy In Berlin, with visual artiste and underground cult fashion label creator, Paul Snowden - he of WASTED GERMAN YOUTH fame. But hold on - Matthew's still got his internationally inspired antenna upright and active - he's just polished off a track with FABRIC DJ regular, Lee Burridge.
So what's next for a musical master that has ticked seemingly every box on a career to-do list? Expect a consistency of new sounds that act soundtracks to life in his new surroundings - all served up with generous helpings of taste and style - or what one could call, Matthew's specialist guide to all things musical.
