I am an Australian composer and studied at the Universities of Sydney and Melbourne. Other than composing, I also working in the Arts Music Unit of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, part of the University of Sydney.
My main raison d'etre is music composition. I have been fortunate in that my music is regularly performed all over the world. I've had relationships with many organizations including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, The Queensland Orchestra, Musica Viva Australia, the Sydney Youth Orchestra and most recently, Orchestras Australia.

When people ask, "what type of music do you write", it's a difficult question to answer. My music often displays influences of popular music styles within a classical music context. So for example, my fundamental musical style is influenced by techno music, but I write music for acoustic ensembles such as orchestras or string quartets. It doesn't always sound like techno, but I think that its influences, such as driving repeated rhythms and a general sense directness and immediacy can be immediately observed.
I do other things in addition to composing music. It is very enjoyable to write music textbooks, and one example has been recently released, entitled "Music Composition Toolbox", published by Science Press. I am also the progenitor and artistic director of the Aurora Festival, a new festival of contemporary music based in Westen Sydney that premiered in April 2006.
