Matthew Hope makes you nostalgic for tomorrow. His styles range from the melancholy musings of a dark ballad, to the passionate strains of a spirited love song.
Born and raised on the outskirts of Chicago, Matthew absorbed many different musical traditions at a young age. Music was central to existence in a world full of sound but without sight. This lead to a unique perspective on the experiences of the everyday.
A careful listener hears a blend of new sounds and alternative ideas, with roots in traditional American and British Folk. Matthew is based in Minneapolis absorbing a different scene from his Chicago Irish pub days.
Playing out to audiences, Matthew often tests new material on unsuspecting fans, along with his expanding library of original classics. With one foot in the dark brooding sounds of the Minneapolis underground and the other in the passion of writing the perfect love song, Matthew Hope's songs are songs you are hard-pressed to forget.
Time and time again fans say that his music draws them in. As he shifts from dark to light, from bitter to jubilant, from weary to enthusiastic, they eagerly anticipate what comes next.
aloha, matteo! 'tis tres serendipitous that you rang me as i ran into jim just last week and we spoke of you... alors, oui, oui, time for us to reconnect, time to catsup (& mutard)!! when's your final gradumatation concert?...
Nothing much on this end, I've fallen into a pretty boring routine as usual. Francois Rabbath is coming next week though, he's a crazy amazing bass player/teacher. I'm playing a really bad orchestral arrangment of Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit this weekend. Remember when Callahan played that for us?
hey sorry i didn't call you saturday night for the show. i ended up just going home after my rehearsal. i was cashed. i heard middle of the war in my sleep the other night. it sounded awesome.
How dare you insult my made up Italian roots! hehe. Well, forgive a girl for thinking the guy is cute, thus enhancing his musical abilities. What? Did you expect more from me? hehe. I kid, I kid. I still love him, so blah! The paper is about 5 minutes from being completed, at a tidy 10 pages. What a wonderful way to spend an ENTIRE weekend. bye!
Heading to your favorite venue on Friday eve? I think I will. Btw, I thought we were to hang out Saturday, and you come invade my hood on a Friday. For shame! hehe.
you went back and ate my leftovers didn't you? I haven't had my whooping cough shot yet, you shouldn't do things like that, unless whooping cough is fashionable, then go on and eat all my leftover chili as if it were a full time job (which it is). bye!
No I can not. Internal organs are meant for laughing out, or at least that is what my edition of "Internal Organs Weekly" tells me. Just know that I died happily.
Have a great week! Hope you can tune in to the show this Sunday! If you have any requests or comments please feel free to leave us a voice comment on our profile so we can play it on the air.
Cities Live!
