Matthew Hope makes you nostalgic for tomorrow. His styles range from the melancholy musings of a dark ballad, to the passionate strains of a spirited love song.
Born and raised on the outskirts of Chicago, Matthew absorbed many different musical traditions at a young age. Music was central to existence in a world full of sound but without sight. This lead to a unique perspective on the experiences of the everyday.
A careful listener hears a blend of new sounds and alternative ideas, with roots in traditional American and British Folk. Matthew is based in Minneapolis absorbing a different scene from his Chicago Irish pub days.
Playing out to audiences, Matthew often tests new material on unsuspecting fans, along with his expanding library of original classics. With one foot in the dark brooding sounds of the Minneapolis underground and the other in the passion of writing the perfect love song, Matthew Hope's songs are songs you are hard-pressed to forget.
Time and time again fans say that his music draws them in. As he shifts from dark to light, from bitter to jubilant, from weary to enthusiastic, they eagerly anticipate what comes next.

Nothing much on this end, I've fallen into a pretty boring routine as usual. Francois Rabbath is coming next week though, he's a crazy amazing bass player/teacher. I'm playing a really bad orchestral arrangment of Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit this weekend. Remember when Callahan played that for us?
