Interests

  • General

Matthew Revert is the result of a sexually unfulfilling night instigated by his parents some 26 years ago. I understand that my parents were obliged to engage in an annual bout of sexual congress due to valentines day tradition. My birth and subsequent upbringing resulted in a quaint financial difficulty.

And now I write. I write about nothing and I write about everything, all in an attempt to recreate the unfulfilling circumstances in which I was conceived.

My first book, "A Million Versions of Right" is due for release within the next few weeks courtesy of the fine people at LegumeMan Books. If any of you happen to read it at any point, I will be most grateful.

  • Music

I'm one of those people who when asked "what's your favourite type of music?" respond with "pretty much anything." There's a common misconception that people who answer in such a way aren't actually committed enough to music to really seek it out. In at least my case (and I assume many others) this simply isn't true. Music dominates the greater part of my life and it's much harder for me to find styles of music I dislike. Rather than rattle off almost every genre and meta genre under the sun, here's a list of music I've been listening to regularly of late:

Jay Munly - Jimmy Carter Syndrome
    The Pop Group - Y
Allen Toussaint - The Bright Mississippi
    Wrong-eyed Jesus - Jim White
Slinky! The Epic Sessions - Link Wray
Consider the Birds - Woven Hand
    Venetian Snares - Filth
    Passenger of Shit - 7

  • Movies

Some great films I have recently seen.

    A Contest of Pleasures
    Searching for the Wrong-eyed Jesus
    Punk: Attitude
    Downloading Nancy

  • Television

It varies. I don't dislike television like most people I tend to meet.
  • Books

    Recently read (and enjoyed)

    Notice - Heather Lewis
Smashed, Squashed, Splattered, Chewed, Chunked and Spewed - Carbuncle
Spare Key - R. Frederick Hamilton
Tales From the Vinegar Wasteland - Ray Fracalossy
    Norwegian Wood - Haruki Murakami

About me:

A Million Versions of Right

OUT NOW!!!

If you think anything about the world makes sense, think again.

LegumeMan Books is very happy to announce the release of 'A Million Versions of Right' by Matthew Revert. A book that delves so impossibly deep into the realms of absurdity that it can't be good for your health. A book that will leave you scratching the skin from your head in confusion and planting the skin bits in your grandmother's garden. When no skin trees grow, you'll bemoan your very existence like an ennui-ridden character in a French New Wave film. Life doesn't make sense - why fight it?

From the back cover

Between these covers lies a cornucopia of putrid wonders.

Step into a world that defies all logic. One of Masturbatory headphones, diabolically toppled comb-jars, moustache-filled ejaculations, malfunctioning bookmarks, bricolage scrotums, wank fairies and a poorly conceived theory regarding wall stability. A world where ball popping is the only solution to the scrotum's poor aesthetic qualities and true love can lead a man to transpose menstruation across gender lines. Not to mention a blink so immensely powerful that mild abrasion can ensue. There’s also a lime.

Truly some of the strangest stories ever told. In his debut collection Matthew Revert has concocted a bizarre vortex of fiction by turns hilarious, disturbing, thought-provoking and just plain odd. A Million Versions of Right will force you to find logic in the illogic and shun anything resembling common sense.

Like the faecal scrawl of a madman without the unpleasant smell.

Finished "A million versions..." Going to buy a copy each for a couple of my best friends. I'm quite shocked to admit this, but "A million versions"..." might prove the first book in my life that I read twice! I started reading Douglas Coupland's "Girlfriend in a coma" afterwards and I gave up because it was so lame!

I am mid-way through reading "A million versions of right". It is, perhaps, the most original collection of fiction I have ever read. The prose is stunning... The wealth of ideas simply staggering... This book deserves to be read by millions and sell as many copies. I didn't know what to expect, but this surpasses anything I could have imagined. This is a brilliant book, Matt! Take care and keep writing.
