G'day! I am 43 live on Kangaroo Island and I frequently commute through Kingston to Adelaide. When asked to stand for the Australian Democrats, I chose Kingston because the Maclaren Vale region is the gateway between Adelaide and Kangaroo Island. I have been living in South Australia for 4 years and before that I lived 12 years in central Australia at Uluru and Alice Springs. I have a science trained background with extensive knowledge in community negotiation and formulation of service infrastructure which helps people in the Kingston electorate.
In 2006, I Completed the South Australian Rural Leadership Program and I am a keen supporter of the Onkaparinga Council’s Leadership Program.
In 2000 I stood for Council in Alice Springs and then for Mayor of Kangaroo Island in 2006. During my 20 years community development experience, I have worked closely with Indigenous communities throughout Australia and care about the treatment of our First Australians welfare, mental health and wellbeing. I work hard to provide solutions to the problems faced by our global community;
My spiritual awareness allows me to see all view points on religious matters and provides me a basis of multicultural religious worship. Due to that upbringing and background, I am passionate about Human Rights and how they relate to Indigenous Australians.
I have skills in speaking 3 Indigenous Languages and was awarded the NAIDOC Non Indigenous Central Australian of the Year for computer training at the Institute for Aboriginal Development www.iad.edu.au. Previously I taught the first TAFE Indigenous Tour Guide Program.
Who I'd like to meet: Every South Australian constituent to represent them for the 2010 Parliamentary Legislative Council Election
Thanks YADS! While it may have been Natasha that got me into the Dems, it is the YADS enthusiasm, commitment and smarts that are keeping me here. The Next Generation - TNG
